I have the entire Appearance package bought at and installed at a Mazda dealership. Recently I had the paint peel from damage going up on a lift, and they're yellow underneath.

I'm not saying this guy isn't sketchy / repainting, but it's worth mentioning that true OEM ones are yellow beneath also. It's not lightning yellow, and it's flat yellow. I've got a few pictures in a thread around here somewhere..

I'm confused now. Maybe Mazda repainted some overstock since they were no longer producing yellow and he really did buy them this way. I've seen a LY RX-8 with some pretty beat up side flares and they were black underneath. They are sending me a new set tomorrow, I think I'll just do the clear bra thing and hope for the best.

You'd think Mazda would've put a **** ton of clear coat on though so as to not have anything chip to show the color below. Or hell, just sand the color off, jesus...

But RX8phase1's skirts are terrible, there's no way a Mazda dealer would let that leave their shop. So this guy is definitely re-painting some parts. Notice how all his listings show the parts in yellow in all the pics??

I guess you could just try to lowball the best offer as much as you can and do the prep work yourself to have a local paintshop do it still way cheaper than from the stealership.

I emailed him again asking about why I have not received a refund since the product was shipped back a week ago and FedEx confirmed that it was signed for. His reply was, "It was? Send tracking number". I do and an hour later he calls me. Yea, believe that...a real phone call. Tells me that his mom is sick and he forgot he signed for it. Said he'll refund right away. Well another day gone by and still waiting.

I should have taken pics before sending back, but believe me the parts I received were poorly repainted. Dust particles in the clear coat, spotting all around, and worst off was the color was way lighter than OEM.

Hmm, I guess I see both sides of this. I've not dealt with the guy, but it seems like if you want a refund for a low quality product, he'll refund you, which isn't too bad at all.

I do agree that is a "shady" in the wording to call products "new" and then have them be repainted to match the color you need. But if the prices are good, then just have a local paint shop paint them and they'll still be cheaper than OEM.... But the seller should state that also that the products are unpainted, etc...

my .02 cents. It does suck when you thinking you're getting mazda OEM quality and the paint flakes off in a week.

But - you get what you pay for!

You do realize VR is not an easy paint job. The OEM VR is a 3 stage process called Tri-coat. In order to truly match the paint of your car you need to spend way more money than buying just the OEM part from Mazda.

FYI - Mazda has discounts on aero parts now and much more!

Altspace those are still more than double the cost, but if this fails I might just have to go that route...

Thanks for the link

I've had experience with their aerosol VR paint blend. It's ok for a basecoat, but again it's not a true tri-coat process with the mid-coat. Funny you mention them because I have their paint right now for multiple projects.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So because of my whole 3 months of dealing with azpartsexpress, I gave the guy a neutral feedback rating on eBay saying, "Item not brand new. Was refunded."

He decided to reply with, "FUNNY I HAVE SOLD A 100 SETS AND YOU THE ONLY ONE THAT HAD A ISSUE ." What the hell is that about?

Then he sends me an email and I quote, "I PICK UP THE ITEM AND REFUND 100% AND I GET A NETURAL . HOW CAN YOU LOOK IN THE MIRROR IN THE AM. STAY AWAY".

So I ask all of you, does not not seem rather childish? And he's stating I'm the only one with the issue? What a liar.

He's adding more insult to injury. Just sent me a request to revise my feedback. Hah!

His message, "custome got as full refund and i paid for shipping on return".
This guy really needs to learn proper grammer.

Well I received my mud guards today and sure enough there's LY under the black... Also, there were two places where he didn't paint well enough and you could see the yellow beneath the black
