OEM Optional body kit - Back order?

I purchased my new RX-8 today with the optional Appearance Package, but was later informed that it is on back order from the USA. My car is ready to be delivered but id rather wait for everything to be on it rather than going back for the kit + spoiler.

Is this some known issue at mazda? They couldnt give me a date either, just that every week that can check the status of the order...

So if you were told the same thing 2 months ago and are still waiting, id like to know.

Thanks

What do you mean by OEM optional body kit? If you're talking about the Mazdaspeed bodykit, yes, it was on back order. However, the backorder was only 'till June. I actually ordered my front bumper, and it should be in tomorrow or Thursday.

Dude, opt out and go for the MS kit. And, if you dont have enough money right now, don't get the appearance package, just save your money and wait till you can afford the MS kit, you'll be much happier you did.

Is this the MS kit you guys are talking about? I was not aware that there were 2 kits offered by mazda.

I like the front and sides, the rear is a little too extreme and the stock exhaust is too small for it.

Ill call the dealership and ask about this

Yes the full mazdaspeed kit is nice but its a little too aggressive to leave the rest of the car stock. You need wheels and suspension to make it work.

I prefer a cleaner look, although for an "intermediate" kit the MS is the way to go.

Totally agree, however I have seen some with a MS kit with a drop on stock rims and it looks decent. You could always do this and then save up for rims later.

Just an idea. I know that if it were me and I had a choice in the beginning on which body kit I could get it would have definately been the full MS kit.

But, opinions are like....well you get the idea.

Here, I found what it would like like with stock rims and I believe a drop. Look about half way down the page.
