So I drilled the new hole with a small drill bit. There was no room to use a larger bit at that point.
I used a round file to expand the small hole I drilled.
So, I was left with the factory hole with another hole connected to it.

With the new holes, the small lip that hangs off the lower spoiler was flush up against the rear of the trunk. (per the instructions)
When I look, I cannot see white. (adhesive strips)
If anyone wants the trunk templates to see the holes, let me know.
