Hey guys, Im going in for an appointment to tint my windows today. I was just wondering if I should go with a 20% or 15% tint. My 8's color is whitewater pearl mica. I was just curious if the darker tint was the way to go on my baby

 

20% is about perfect. 15 is great for a while and not that big of a difference, but IMO, 20 is good for day in and day out, rain or shine, in the rain and everything else. Ive had several cars all tinted differently and on my last car i had my favorite setup. 20% all the way around, 50% on the entire windsheild with a 5% strip at the top.

 

i woudl go 20%....i know in va it has to be 35 on the front and 20 on the rear.......but yu can skate by with 20 all around..hehe just roll down the window if you get pulled over and they'll never know:D

 

stay legal...everybody getting their **** tinted darker than legal is going to lead to one thing.....tinting becoming illegal all together.

 

i have a black 8 and i got mine tinted 15% in the front and 5% in the back. it looks great becuase, you can barley see in

 

I had this put on ....35% I think its a very good product.(been on over a year)

 

i have 5% on the back .. 20% for the rears and 35% in the front..

since ithe 8s have a "wraparound " back window, i thought a fade effect would look cool.. and it did too!!

 

Well I have the same car as you, 2005 White, and got 15% all around.

Here in FL that is legal for the rears, but not the drivers... however, keep in mind tinting is not a moving violation, which means that Cops cannot pull you over for this, and if you happen to roll your windows down before the cop gets to the car, they cannot ask you to roll them up to check

maybe in your state but not mine. i get 10 people a week in my store that have gotten tint tickets....and were pulled over just for their tint. i love it...and hope the cops keep nailin' everyone for it.

 

guys he's asking which tint will look better on his white car. not the efficacy of various tint levels or their legality.

 

IMO go with 15% all around. That's what I have and I think it's just right :D

 

go with smoke/charcoal film....it matches up best with the black borders that run around your qtr. glass windows and your rear window. Fully metallized films create a contrast between the border and the window and look like hell.

AND STAY LEGAL....... the shops that'll do illegal work are the hacks that won't be around in the future to honor that crap film they install.

 

So let me see if I have this right. Everyone here who has "illegal" tint has inferior tint that was applied by hacks?

thats not true entirely.. ive had mine done by speedy all 5 in my last car and they are well recognised...

in addition i got my 8 done by a local small shop.. and they have been great .. i took it back once (week after install) to get rid of the last "unsettled" bubbles..


and i dont believe the 3M tint ive used is crap either!

 

Thanks for all the replies guys. I cant believe i actually got this many. I ended up getting 20% all around which looks pretty good in my opinion, and most of u seem to agree. The only problem is that in NJ, i believe any % tint done to the front windows is illegal :p

 

hi ... i tint windows in nj and i kno any tint on the front is illegal ..but for the most part cops dont give u a hard time <only in those couple of towns i personally have 13 on the front and 6 on the back

Oh good....another tinter that does illegal work. Wonder why it's illegal to have tint on the 2 front doors in your state? Maybe because tinters never followed the decent laws that once existed?

Very intelligent response. Jay-walking isn't something I do for a living. Just trying to do my part to keep it from becoming illegal completely. Don't mind my attitude...being asked 15 times a day to do illegal work has turned me into a *****.

 

I would Go with Quantum Tint, The also call it Platnum, its Like a Light Mirror tint, its Matches my Titanium Perfect and i think it would look hot on white, heres a Pic

 

Quantum has to be one of my favorite films...and after seeing that pic of your car I'm tempted to change mine to it. Looks kick ***. There's Platinum Plus, Quantum, and Titanium film. They all have that reflective look. Problem is that I've had several customers complain about the contrast between the film and the black border around the quarter glass windows and rear window.

 

Really,it Never really Botered Me , i think its the classy'st tint out there right now
