Painted Badges Black

Over the weekend, with a little help, I painted the badges black. I took the idea from this thread https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-exterior-appearance-body-kits-27/painted-stock-exhaust-tips-%5Bpics%5D-101505/

It's been raining so I finally got to take some pics with my cousins camera.

and I was a little bored.

Next is the 'smoked' tint for the rear tails and yellow tint for head+fog lights.

Thanks for looking.

Wow that looks very good. Did you remove them before painting? (I'm sure you did) How hard is everything to remove and then put back?

thanks. yes I removed them.

all the rear stuff was cake to remove compared to the front badge. it has three 'pegs' and when I was tugging on the badge, two of them broke off - the smaller peg remains.

i used silicone to put the back on. the front is kinda different since it's sorta warped to cope with the shape of the bumper. i pressed the top and bottom of the ring encircling the flying M to make sure they stick pretty good. the top one is a little above, but the bottom is secure.

I called autozone and they said they have a particular glue, but that silicone would work just fine.

hah. sure is. auto-exe body components are def. in line for parts. after i get the tint stuff the rb flash is next and then i'm going to start saving for wheels (OZ Crono HT in Gold) or possibly the auto-exe stuff. can't wait for time to fly by.

edit: scratch that, a drop is next after flash.

I've always liked how Onyx/Anthracite emblems looked on Lexus' over here in the states, and wondered how they'd look on a WB.

Time to get photoshopping, I guess.

i've been thinking about doing this for a long time. Did you sand down the chrome and primer it before paint?
