Painted exhaust shrouds/rear diffusers

i cant see justification in paying $200+ for a couple slivers of metal that get jammed up close to your exhaust tips... some stainless steel on doubleback tape shouldnt be but maybe $40-50 custom made , and thats using GOOD black 3m take. I do paint and body, I dont see the exhaust hurting that paint so close , but using some flex additive and like someone said above, PREPARATION is key! clean with accusol, follow it up with alcohol to remove static and hit it with adhesion promoter. might want to sand it down smooth first, or use a high build primer to fill it in. I thought about bodymatching all the black on the outside of the car's lower trims, and/or deleting some and going with strong mesh grille material in its place. Make it look like something aussies would do from Sick Division... i'll post some pics here soon....

you'd be suprised at how much direct flame a paint job can take before it hurts the finish... I use a blue point torch to rework bumper damage , it can take a lot of heat and melt the bumpercover before the paint blisters

I really like the look of it painted and the only thing that would stop me from getting mine painted is the fact that you'll be able to see how dirty parts get around the exhaust tips. At least the unpainted stock color matches and hides it somewhat.
