Painting Body Parts
So I finally found the rest of an authentic used mazdaspeed parts for cheap..I have a trunk lid with the spoiler and the bumper a different color shown below..I was bored today so i put them on to see how well they fit..My question with the trunk lid..should I take the spoiler off and install it on my original lid and just get the spoiler painted..body shops said this would be a better option because it will be difficult to match new lid with original paint on the car..(2004 the paint is not new)..If I decided not to do that option they would have to blend and clear coat the original body..I am not looking for perfection but what option would be better..i took a pic of all of it on my car dont mind the wood holding the sideskirts in place.

A reputable body shop will be either to go either route and make it look good. Furthermore, they will be able to tell you which route is cheaper. Either way, you can pretty much count on your painter wanting to blend the paint into you fenders, doors, hood, and quarter panels so that it will look the best it can. Go with whatever your painter suggests, but make sure he is reputable and make dont try to go at this "the cheap way."

The cheapest way should be to remove the spoiler and have it painted to match your car. That is less material to paint that way.
I'm not an expert in painting cars, but it just makes sense that way.

I would hope they paint everything from the edge of the front door rearwards, best way to blend in the paint. I would suggest taking off the spoiler whichever way you go you're going to need to take it off to paint it properly.

Not to thread jack, it is on the same subject here. I seemed to have a slight boo boo with my 8 today . . . result is that my front bumper is a little jacked up now. Pretty scratched, missing some paint and a little chunk missing. Bottom line, imma need a new one, no point in cobbing this one up with fiber glass or bondo (Iv never been one to half *** **** lol) Long story short, how much you fellas think its going to set me back to have a bumper painted on my car. I can mount it, possibly prime it if the shop is down with me doing it. What am i looking at though, also i say on the bay there is a store that sell's Mazda oem bumpers that come pre painted with Mazda OEM paint codes, paint has a lifetime warranty and seems really legit. My concern was if it would look good, just because its the same exact paint code it still might not blend right , right? thanks for any help guys, and again i don't mean to threadjack bluedevil.

Here's an update..finally got my car back from my shop and the rest of the kit looks great!! I cant believe it took me this long to get it on!! I guess I need to put on my swift springs that have been sitting in my garage for years. Should I get 19s and spacers to make this look a little better? I know this is not the section to ask this but I thought I would pose the question.
