Painting Front Bumper plastic Lip??????

My RX8 is going into the Body Shop today.. Once it is there I was thinking about having them paint the black plastic lip on the front bumper Silver to match my car...

I tried a search and could not find any pics or posts?

Will the paint hold or will it start to chip shorty after?

Thanks

If they prep the lip properly, the paint should hold. I always thought about doing that myself. I don't think anyone has done it though.

Someone has done it over here too, on the Titanium, looked good and he hasn't had any problems - just looked for the pics but they've been archived from the UK OC forum.

clean the lip (grease&wax remover), plastic prime it then apply paint/clear.
dont sand it if you want to keep the texture/pattern.
make sure to plastic prime it, so the paint will stay (unless stone chips/hit)

might do the rear one to match the whole look
