I have never purchased CF parts so not sure what to expect to see light coming though so easily. I'm sure if I painted the inside of the lip with black paint you would not be able to tell. But I do not want to install a part that is not very strong. The pics below are from right, center and left sides of the lip.
What do you guys think? Is this normal?

it's normal. Resin is clear and the majority of the weight is resin. You'll usually see a filler material used in between layers of CF (honey comb, fiberglass, etc) but for something like this that is basically a "cover" I doubt it's needed.

Its not lower, but its extended radius will cause you to use more caution when entering inclined driveways and such...
Pdxhak, dont worry about the thiness, I doubt they had a composites engineer tell them where to lay the material with a material schedule. It should be no worry though its not indestructable, it will be strong enough,,,
Like others have said if it worries you just paint the back black, but being under the car and out of a direct line of light there will be no rear projected light that will show through, it will be dark...

Thanks again for all the feedback.
Right now having a hard time removing the OE air dam. The double sided tape is not releasing using a hair dryer. I have a heat gun but its lowest setting is 750*. I have used that much heat on painted and powder coated titanium golf heads but thinking that is too much heat for the material the lip is made from. Any tips for getting the tape to release?

I got the tape to release with the hair dryer. Just needed to hold it in place longer than expected.
05rex8,
I removed all the screws from underneath and in the wheel wells. Looks like there a few behind the lip screwed in from the bumper. Any others?

no, I think that should be it....it is easier to do it with the front bumper off tho
