Pimp my whitey (opinions on tint?)
I just got my MT 2006 GT whitewater pearl last friday, and am enjoying every second of it! The car came with the aero package (front air dam, side accents, and rear flares), no spoiler, and of course with the moonroof. I will work on posting pics soon. I am asking for opinions on tinting the car. I believe the legal limit in Missouri is 35% on the front side windows; so my dilemma is whether to go 35% all around, or 35% sides, and as dark as I can go everywhere else (I am not wanting to tint the top of the front windshield). Suggestions? I think a clean look on the car is the way to go, and am leaning towards a consistent level of tint. I plan to get the front splash guards to finish off the body as well. I don't have any intention to get a spoiler (unless I get some major convincing!). What's this I hear about clear corners? =D
EDIT: images attached; 'twas a misty night here at work, so these are the best I have for now.

Usually go -10 on the sides and rear
so 35 front windows, 25 rest of the way.
It looks good, and gives more privacy to the back seat
got 15 on mine now all the way around, but in florida and sun is a killer on the interior

I have a black Rx-8 with 20% all the way around and 5% 6inchs down the front window.
I like it cause I can still see pretty well at night and it matches my paint.
I also had 5% put all around my g/f car and its a bitch to drive at night. I dont like it when I have a hard time seeing whats around me.

clear corners.. as in.. the little yellow tabs for the turn signals turn to clear... makes especially a white car look much cleaner. Also, I would get black badges for the car, i think it'd look hawt. Another thing you can do is get a Mint Spoiler... that would look hawt on white.

i dont know the laws in ur state but in cali the fronts cant be tinted darker than 70......stupid huh? but anyway mine is 20 on the back and rear windows and 35 on the fronts to make it not as obvious
20% tint is plenty dark enough to get that nice clean look but ive seen 35 on the rears before and i dont think it looks as clean because the glass is still transparent enough to see the little rear windows. 20 makes it look as if the window is not there during the day time from the outside but from inside its just fine
but its ur car so do what you want

I've got 35 on the windows and 20% on the back three and you can barely see a difference. I got lighter on the front cause the laws in jersey say NOTHING on the front, but I've had it almost a year now and havent' gotten anything from a REAL cop yet. (a TCNJ security guard bitched at me but they're not real cops)

Tinting done as of yesterday. I decided to compromise a bit on doing a level tint all around; the place I went to actually does the tint work for the local dealership on all their new cars, so I went with their recommendation -- 35% front side, and 20% for the rest (agreed, Gambit; can't tell much of a difference). I think it was a good decision! Now I just have to remember not to roll down the windows or use rear defrost for a week... hopefully some of that foggy junk goes away soon, too!

Yeah don't worry, it'll start looking better in a few days. Good work on the color man. Personally, I went back and forth on the clear corners, but finally bought them, and they look really good. Another MUST is replacing those little marker lights in your headlights with ultra-white 194 LED's from autolumination.com. It looks really, really good. Have fun!

Clear corners and stealth bulbs are installed! I must say, I find it hard to take my eyes off of it. :-D I just need to wash and wax the car now.... time to hit up the waxing threads!

Nice work You will also look at every 8 now to see if they have clear corners or not
Have you thought about fender strakes. I think it really adds a lot to the look of the car. Some folks don't like them, but to me they really looks sharp.

If you are considering dressing up those cheap-plastic fender vents, check out the fiberglass fender vents thread. Evo-R is about ready to start selling them, and they look pretty hot. I think he said he'd keep the price under $100 as well, which is a bit less than strakes.

20% Rear and 35% upfront (this is the darkest the dealer would tint the car for me) since they threw in the tint free of charge with the deal. I asked for the darkest possible. It does make the car look real nice I would have probably gone 20% in the front as well, but its pretty bad in the night with the 20% on the rear. Backing out of places where its poorly lit is a pain in the ***.
