Chrism,
the bulbs are SO EASY to switch out on this mod. You just pull the mirror lens straight out and there you are...

These things look terrific. They're on my wish list for when track season is over.

The LEDs are nice bright, but I suppose you lose the dimming effect with them, right?

Yeah ... I imagine the LEDs are actually being overdriven by the current, but once they drop below the forward voltage they "cut" off. Probably not quite the fade the incandescents see, but close ... it would depend on the voltage ratings.

Actually, that is the way the "blue" background lighting on the dash works ... MAZDA just overdrives the LEDs to vary the intensity. Harder on the LEDs ... but what the heck

BINGO!!!

I finally found an LED bulb that works really well with these lights! (3 sets of bulbs later) I got the bulbs at www.autolumination.com

"The Widest, Brightest and Best 194 Leds Ever Made!

Outfitted with the latest Super High-Flux low profile Leds

Designed especially for gauges, and applications requiring a large uniform field of bright light

Only 9mm diameter x 22mm overall"

I'll try and take some pictures tonight...

I had seen those ... not cheap ... interested to see what you think and how they behave in the puddle lamps.

You must REALLY want to see EVERYTHING at your doors ... including bacterial formations in the puddles of water. Or perhaps you are merely trying to irradiate and vaporize them

They're weird little guys but once I had them in... Very bright and they do an awesome job in the lamps. Not the cheapest things out there but if you really want people to notice the puddle lights....worth every penny.

Not to be rude, but what are the point of having lights under your side view mirors?

^puddle lamps. So you can see the puddles. So you don't step in them exiting the car at night.

Not to mention their kinda cool lookin.

No offense taken. Like tiggerlee says ... they are like any other light on the car and meant to help you see better. They are a safety feature in that they expose scumbags who sometimes hide behind cars or in the shadows and they help you avoid stepping in puddles (hence the name) or chewing gum, etc. at night.

They are the "bomb" when you fob the locks and they illuminate... why MAZDA does not include them (like in other markets) is a mystery ... but that doesn't mean we can't have 'em.

Thanks for asking.

No pictures yet because my harddrive decicded to crash last night. I showed it to a buddy last night and he couldn't stop talking about how cool they looked.

Hmmm ... I checked and I did get 2 messages ... one minute apart. I replied to the hotmail account and just replied again. Let me know if you did not get today's message...or if I should use the other account.

Sorry about the mis-communication. I'm usually pretty good about responding to folks.
