Questions on installation of clear corners, why don't my signals work when locking/un

Hey guyz and girls

I did a search, couldnt find what i wanted to know. So i installed my clear corners, i bought it on ebay from japanparts and it came with corners, amber bulb, and the black socket that holds the bulb as well that you have to connect. I have no idea what it's called. I couldnt figure how to unplug the current one so i just switched the bulbs. Would this matter if i keep my old black thingy wire? The only problem i have is when i unlock my car, the corners are suppose to blink. But they don't do that anymore after i switched to the amber bulbs. Also, any suggestions on HOW TO Take the black harness off?? I tried for 15 minutes, and i couldnt unplug that stupid thing. Thanks for your responses.

You are mistaken, as mentioned, the corners never blink, just the signals.

I purchased the same clear corners from Japan Parts on eBay. What I did was keep the original harnass (the black thingy). As a matter of fact I kept the white bulb as well. Thought it looked better than the amber one. If you prefer the amber one, its pretty easy to just pull it out and switch. No issues.

Yep- the corners are just on when your parking lights or headlights are on. The harness it came with are no different than the US-spec ones it came with. I thought the same thing when i put my clears on - I would like for them to blink when I arm the alarm and for turn signals for extra visibility, but that's just not how they work.

ok, thanks a lot guys. I thought the harness would be a factor. About the signals going on when unlocking, and locking, it doesn't work anymore after i installed the clear corners. Any ideas? Sorry about thinking it was the corners. I just remember seeing the orange from the sides. It doesnt do it anymore. I didnt move any wires or anything. Thanks a lot for your reponses.

Make sure all your doors shut tightly and the trunk isn't popped...

Been there, done that... today in fact when I finished the alarm shock sensor install

It's your 8's little way of saying 'hey, you left a door open, dammit!'

Yep, same parts, it's just that the ones you bought were intended to be replacement parts for damaged corners. So, you did the right thing.

Mr.Dave I liked the white lamps too, but, in almost all states, the side markers must be amber on the front half, red on the back. Not that they will pull you over for such. I may eventually go back to the whites. I used amber LEDs just to be different.

D MENAC, I have heard that about the amble lamps being required on the front. I believe CA is one of them....just wanted to see how long I can get away with white and no front license plate.

I put in ultra violet or blacklights in mine, when I was in that last wreck I asked the cop, he said as long as they weren't blue or red no problem.

im still on temps but i might eat the tickets i get for the front plate.
only problem is by my house there is a cop that sits every morning just looking to pull someone over.and im expecting a ticket any day for the tints on my other car.
as for the white corner lights
i did one side with white other side orange and it looked better with the headlight parking light so i left them white.i doubt it cops will know its a new car im sure they wont care.
then again i could be wrong

I did the same. I'll keep the clear ones unless the local law enforcement tells me to switch. So far I've been pulled over twice, just for them to take a look at the car. Gotta love these Germans. Another odd thing that happens quite often, is that when I'm downtown (Old Heidelberg) I return to my car with swarms of tourists (including a lot of Chinese ones) taking pictures of my ride!
