Quoted $5500 for paint and install of a full kit

Hello,

I've been to a ocuple shops, all of which have quoted me $4000-$6000 for paint, install on a full kit. Veilside d1-gt kit, includes front, back, sides and hood.

Will have some two tone paint, but pretty simple.

This is in Canadian dollars, which currently is not a big difference.

I found a nice shop, good guys, askign $5500 tax in for the full setup.

Is this a fair price?

as long as they do a great job its a fair price.. you dont know how much work it takes to really paint a car... luckily for you there wont be any body damage like in my case. I only paid around 1500 to have mine painted. It also matters if your color changing or not. If you are, which i assume you are with two-tone then yes, its a pretty fair price.

I would say expect around 6k to get it painted, which will cover any shop, then go find the best shop with best reviews. Dont base it upon price to choose which shop. Good luck! oh btw, dont hit a curb with fiberglass! :P

Haha, thanks for your help.

I was just worried I was being taken for a ride. Like you said, I have no clue what it costs.

And yea, I'll have to be super careful of those damn curbs.

Thanks again buddy

Haha, what did you pay for your install/paint? I live in Alberta, Canada. My front bumper has a crunch in it, so $500 is just to fix that

Stupid me!

It was on the car when I bought it, but the kit has some damage on it.

The front bumper needs to be smoothed out, + a few scrapes. The rear bumper has some cracks and is burned near the exhaust tips. The side skirts have a few scratches too. I was quoted just over $1000 for all repairs.

So $5500 for paint and install might not be a far stretch?

Also, on your side skirts, did you have little squares cut out of them? are those for reflectors?

Mine don't either, but there is a 2 inch by 1 inch cut in both fenders, looks like holes for reflectors. Maybe they come that way and your guy filled them in, like i'm going to.

paint and fit can vary on labor costs but depending on your color that night still be a bit high.....if you are repainting the entire car then you may be more on par........the shop i go to is pretty high end and i dont think he would charge any one near that for a fit and paint....you might wanna shop around....or if you wanna drive down to the states i can assure you it will be even cheaper

yeah that seems a lil high,,, I have a pretty close understanding of my paint guys charges... A full kit like Veilside(full fr and rear bumper, side skirts, and wing) w/ install and 2-tone would probably be alil under$2k

Hmm, well on my front kit, they are putting on the fogs, headlight washers, as well as fixing a crunch in it. There is also a good bit of spider cracking *staring* as they call it. And this is for the full kit + hood. (Hood alone is like $800 to do and install, from the tons of quotes I've got).

I don't know, I've shopped around a bunch and all the quotes once they see the kit have been from $4500 -$6000

Oh well, I hope they do a darn good job lol.

Haha, tell em about it. I just finished calling EVERY local body shop, within 300 km. Ever single one quoted me between $3500 (macco) up to $8000. So it must be the standard price for the west side of Canada.

We are the richest province in Canada, for hourly wage, standard of living, etc. So it's no surprise they charge us that much more. It's roughly $100 per hour of labor. Thats the standard rate. You can see where 50 hours worth of work adds up fast

....or a used Miata and some serious STS2age or some dirtbikes or even a few of those JDM girls that suck toes...

....or a .50 cal Sniper and a handful of 3rd world children to practice on...

....damn, I **** you not, I could build you a rocket pack for that price....

Haha, I can copy in about 10 printed quotes if you like. They are all in that range. So.. I guess don't get your car painted in the east side of canada?
