SEVENSTOCK 7 - September 11th, 2004
The largest gathering of rotary enthusiasts in the United States will meet for the 7th annual rotary "love fest" at the Mazda R&D facility in Irvine, CA. This is being rumored as possibly the last Sevenstock event to be held at this location, so don't miss out if you haven't attended.
Browse through hundreds of rotary-powered vehicles on display in the parking areas prior to the "formal opening" of the R&D center's inner courtyard. Once inside, you will be treated to some of the most historic and fascinating rotary-powered cars ever assembled. Don't forget to visit the vast vendor area and stop by the Racing Beat booth to view the latest product offerings. (Super Secret Info - If all goes as planned, we will unveiling our new body kit for the RX-8!)

What's new for the RX-8?
The Racing Beat shop has been very busy over the past several months. We have been working on a number of "special projects" with the RX-8 and been evaluating several types of forced induction systems. While progress has been made, several serious issues must be addressed before any of these systems can be considered for reliable street use. At some point in the near future, we will try and coax Jim Mederer, Racing Beat's co-founder and chief engineer, into detailing in writing his findings on these various projects!
REVi Intake System
Work continues to progress on the RX-8 air intake system. This new intake system, code-named "REVi", has progressed to the point of the final prototype stage. The next step is to produce the final tooling that will be used for the production units. (These final steps have taken a bit longer than we would have hoped, and we are eagerly trying to push this project forward with tooling shop!)
Designed in-house using a stock Renesis engine on our engine dyno, the REVi intake system addresses several of the problems that we found with other aftermarket intakes; in particular, sound levels and rough idle conditions. We have not established a release date yet, but we expect to have more information, dyno results, and sound level data available late summer/early fall.
RX-8 Body Kit
After gathering valuable customer feedback from a focus group of RX-8 owners, we have completed the design of a body kit package for the RX-8. Mr. Oku, Racing Beat's co-founder and head designer, traveled to Japan to oversee the modeling and tooling phase of this project. Once final fitting of the components is completed, the tooling will be shipped to the US for production. Components that will be offered include: nose kit, side skirts, rear valance, and rear deck wing.
Although we are not ready to release any photos of these items just yet, the plans are to unveil these components on the Racing Beat RX-8 at the upcoming Sevenstock 7 event on September 11th. Photos will be made available after the formal unveiling!
