Rear Fog Light Questions

Rear Fog Light Questions
Does anyone happen to have a copy of the MAZDA instructions covering installation of the rear fog light assembly that they can make available?
Can anyone tell me the type of lamp (model number) used in the rear fog light itself?
Thinking of rolling my own but would like to see what the original involves. I've looked at all the DIY threads, but there are not any detailed manufacturer instructions.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have them somewhere... in Japanese... I'll try to get them to you tomorrow. PM me with your email. Sorry I haven't replied to your PM about this, but I get 20-30 PMs a day and it got burried.

Here's a place to order them, I just posted in another thread https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...=rear+fog+lamp
It costs about $200 depending on the exchange rate, no idea what shipping is. And I'm not sure if it comes with instrucitons.

oh it did come with instruction for mine...
Omi has it scanned... I wonder where it was from :D?
Omi tell you what I have boardband!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Surfing the rx8club site so easily now. Hehe
Installation did cost $200 for me. In a nutshell you need to wire the light under the steering coloumn - so that need to be taken off, so does the front console (to puck in the light switch on dash). The panel on the right hand side or left hand side for US people, the rear seat of that side and the boot side panel of that side... not to mention the rear bumper and cut a hole at the rotary sign....
compare with that changing the light bulb of the rear fog is very easy. Just lie down and twist

Thanks guys ... I understand ...
I'm looking into making a replacement fog light fixture that will allow me to keep my rear rotary accent. So I am trying to glean as much info as possible without plopping $200.00 down. Ultimately I may need to do that, but for now I am trying to see if what I need can be derived from the instructions. Omicron is working on getting me a copy ... which he got from somebody else ;-)
I also think it is ludicrous to have to hack up the rear bumper to put that on ... so I am looking at an alternative design.
If any of our European friends could look at their rear fog install from underneath the bumper and let us know if it looks like MAZDA cuts the bumper from the factory/port as others here have described being necessary, that would be interesting indeed. Seems strange MAZDA would engineer a light that required such modifications. But stranger things have happened.
Two more things ... Taka mentioned replacing the bulb ... What is the model number of that bulb? And can you tell me if there is a hyperbolic reflector at the back of the fog light assembly? Given the brightness, I assume so.
I appreciate any and all info.

I wonder if an LED will work? I think the answer is no since the presence of the hyperbolic reflector..
..(yawn) time to go to sleep... (damn boardband)

Actually, someone tried an LED replacement bulb and discovered that it did not reflect in the parabolic reflector, and yet it was still too bright - unless you want a full-power rear fog.
