Rear Spoiler Mounting Template?
#2
When you order one from Spoiler Depot, they provide four set-screws to use. It goes like this:
-install the set-screws in the spoiler with the pointy side down
-align the spoiler how you want it on the lid. (it helps to have a couple of pairs of eyes and take measurements during this phase.)
-tape the spoiler in place.
-push down sharply on the spoiler so that the set-screw points make tiny little indentions exactly where the hole should be drilled.
It went really smoothly for me. After I made the indentions, I measured their location just to be sure. If they had been a little off, you can repeat the process as the previous indentions will be hidden by the spoiler any way.
Once you have things just right, try to muster all the cahones you can find and fire-up the drill...

I'm just cringing. I hate the trunk spoiler on my car. All it does is cause drag and dirty up what's already a great silhouette. But, it was there on it already, and there's no removing it once it's on there. Right car, right deal. Just that damn spoiler.

What do you mean by template? I bought an aftermarket mazda rear spoiler and followed the enclosed instruction to install. Basically it was 2 plastic strips with a nipple sticking out in the middle. You insert the nipple in to the screw holes tape them to the spoiler lightly then place the spoiler where you want it to go making sure the rear most portion of the spoiler is level with the end of the trunk. Check for equal spacing on each side and from the end of the trunk to the postion of where the spoiler sits. Once all is plumb, tape down the plastic strips very well. Remove the spoiler. The nipples have a hole in the middle where you first use 1/16 drill bit to creat pilot holes. After you drill the pilot holes, remove the plastic strips and then use 1/8 or 1/4 (Iforgot which size exactly) bit to make the hole to accomodate the screws.
I used my 2 kids to hold each end while I postioned it.
I think I may have the instructions and plastic strips somewhere and could mail it to you if this is what you mean by "template". As long as you send them back!
