![Question](https://www.rx8club.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I want a plain, simple, factory-style, rear wing spoiler for my be-a-utiful black RX-8, but I have some questions for you, guys, that are way more experienced than I:
- Should I go original or buy a "factory style" spoiler? What's the advantages on each? (price is one, sure... But anything else?)
- If I go original, I know that Trussville and Rosenthal are both selling their spoilers for $300. Is that actually the original one? Why do they have different part numbers from the ones in the Mazda web site?
- If I go aftermarket, I heard that spoilerdepot is a honorable place. Does anyone disagree?
- There's also a guy in e-bay selling his kits for under $200 (197.77 + shipping to be exact). His alias is trimking1 and has plenty of good feedback there. Anyone had good/bad experiences with him?
- Also there was a thread that didn't quite go on about how the spoiler overloads the ordinary trunk lid struts, so you need to replace them. But it's not clear to me that they are talking about the ordinary spoiler (I think they were discussing the MS spoiler). Any new information on that?
I know it's a lot to ask in a single post, and I really appreciate any insight on this issue.
I couldn't find any comprehensive threads on this subject here. If there's one, I'm more than happy to be pointed to that.
Thanks a lot!

Best thing about the Mazda parts, besides that the fitment and color match is perfect (the different part numbers are for the different colors), is that they come with stronger trunk hold-open struts to compensate for the extra weight of the spoiler. Worth the money, IMHO.

Hi Omicron, thanks for the reply.
Yeap, I just received the same information from an e-mail I sent directly to the dealers.
I agree with you. 100 bucks difference is not enough to cover for the lack of struts and the possibility of mismatching colors in my opinion.
