reluctant question re: paint/glue/CF

I bought some carbon fiber mirror covers for my OEM mirrors. I was supposed to get two sided tape, but i got one sided. But regardless of how many sides, the whole idea seemed a little poorly thought out.

My question is: Could i attach them permanently and create a water tight seal if i had a very thin layer of hot glue between the CF and mirror?

Is this the worst idea ive ever had? or does it seem plausable?

help me out

i don't really see why it wouldn't work but I would not want hot glue on my paint simply because if I ever wanted to remove the covers, it might be a pain the the a** and my paint might suffer

I would be careful about hot glue as well, if the summer temps get to hot, i could see glue dripping down your mirrors
