If it turned out good for you that's awesome. It's just a lot more work and a lot more precautions to make to ensure that you don't get paint anywhere you don't want it. It makes it a lot easier to take it off, even though it may seem easier just to leave it on.
I was actually referring to painting them while the emblems are still attached to the vehicle. Repainting them is all good, lol.

Lol oh. I took mine off. I didn't think people were that stupid. I just used fishing line and sawed them off. Floss broke too easily. I left the remainder of the foam sticky stuff on the car so i had something to glue them back on to.

I wanted to do this so bad but i figured i would have to take it to a body shop to fill and paint the holes...
i cant decide if i want to strip them all or just leave the 'm' i have a black one so i think the black emblems would look bad ***. i hate the mazda and the rx8 emblems though.
i need a new front bumper as i have a little bit of damage to it so i just figured i would get rid of them all when i bought my new bumper... whenever i decide what one to get.

I agree, it would be like taking the "Z" off the Nissan Z series, you would end up with the Nissan 300, 350, 370...i thought ford had the 350...
catch my drift?
I vote keep the rx-

use floss to remove the badges. You'll likely have residue left over. WD-40 will help clean it off without messing up your clear coat. There's some other stuff that will also work, but you have to be careful .
