"How can you tell if you're a nerd? If you're the owner of this car and you look in the mirror. Aside from augmenting his Mazda3's rear badging with pi to the 27th place, Mr. Math here also ordered a vanity license plate that expresses his craving for the never-ending number. Mmmm pi, indeed. "

well, I installed the letters but it didn't come out so well. no matter how I positioned the letters, a hole showed through. The hole in the "r" now shows through the top loop. Either I used a different sized letter or I miscalculated.

That's the best it will come out. I had the same problem too, but it doesn't bother me too much. The letter I used are a bit small, but if you position the letters right, you will barely cover the hole with the R. Let's see some pictures.

I'll get a pic up during daylight. Based on your comments, I laid the "N" down first, and worked my way out on either side. Oddly, what looked good on the template I made didn't work in practice. However, I think I figured out a solution. Since the hole is smack dab in the middle of the "R" in the circle formed by the letter, I could get some Sunlight Silver touch up paint, and using a decent substrate, insert it into the letter. Once done, it should look like there's nothing there but sheet metal.
I'm glad I lined it up properly, it actually looks fairly straight! The adhesive they use is very strong, and the letter should be laid down with a light touch. Should you need to level it, use the same technique used in laying down tile. Apply pressure with your fingers to align the letter properly, nice and level, and then press hard when it's right. Sit on a chair when you do the job. Keep an eyeglass screwdriver handy in case you have to do a quick pry job, but be careful- the adhesive doesn't like giving you a second chance.
Aside from the hole, it actually looks quite OEM!

I took a different approach. I scanned in the letters and made a template of the holes on the trunk and super impossed them. I laid out the letters to cover the holes as best as possible and then used that to help me lay out the letters.
I used blue painters tape make make sure all of the letters were level and were in the right place. Here's a JPG of the scan. I have this in Photoshop if anyone is interested in doing the same thing.

Question: Did you guys get the 1" letters or 7/8" letters?

Here's a PDF of the file. I added a couple lines at the top and bottom to help you line it up properly. Hope this helps. It "should" print to scale. If it doesn't, let me know and I can try to save it to another format that might work.
The letters should be 3/4" tall.

Alright ladies and gentlemen, bringing this thread back from the dead. I've had my "Renesis" badge on for a couple months now, just finally had some time to take pictures of my car. Thanks a bunch to bruce_van for the idea, and for the help. Bruce my font looks a little different, and a little bigger (like yours better fyi). Check it out:

I don't think it's any different than HEMI, or V-TEC badges.
I admit I'd much rather have nothing at all, but I don't want to pay a bodyshop a couple hundred bucks or whatever it is to fill the holes and paint the whole trunk lid. Anyway, it's better than MAZDA imho.
