Replacing Factory Spoiler w/ Mazdaspeed Wing

I know it's been talked about before about how the mazdaspeed wing does not cover up all the area that the factory spoiler does. And I definitely have some paint wear under mine. But I don't exactly understand what area is not covered up. Is it the area in the upper left of my picture?
