Hey, I'm looking into replacing my OEM HID lenses to a clear lense, I've done some research over at HIDplanet ( a great source), but I'm still unclear what size clear lense I will need.

Something tells me a 3" lense will work, but i'm not sure.
Has anyone tried before?

I think that you'll be the first to do this mod. Awhile back, I made a thread about doing this mod and I was meet with these kinds of responses https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/projectors-55405/

I have an extra pair of RX8 headlights that I would like to open up and swap lenses, unfortunately I tried opening them up using a heatgun with no success.
I'm kinda of scared to throw them in the oven. Please take plenty of notes so that you can do a write up.

I never did answer your question, I think that the lenses are 2.25 in?

I REALLY want to get some clear lenses on the projectors plus do the washer mod. From what i gather... 1 washer on each leg creates a phenomenal cutoff beam. I too am hesitant to bake my only set of headlamps, so i think i'm going to try to obtain an extra set.

When i get around to doing this mod i'll be sure to take a lot of notes. Thanks

Do have any experience with retrofits? Have you done any? You do know that I have an extra pair of headlights right? Hmmm... Sac is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from me.

actually this is the first time i'll be retrofitting. On my last car (mazda 6)... I just put HIDs in the halogen housings. But my friends have baked their headlights before and opened them to paint the bezels.

I'm assuming you live near the bay area eh?

Hey another 6 member turned rx8 member nice. I have an extra set of non hid headlights i was going to try to do this mod. i successfully baked them and got them apart but havent got around to changing the lense.............im lazy
