^^ what he said , Fitment ...also authentic is pre painted. If you want 100% color match , fitment.. and poly urethane get authentic ..you almost pay same price for replicas if you want a decent fitment and good paint job. But its up to you

That plus people can always tell its fake.
For example... most replica kits is fully primered and painted by the shop so the bottom little lip part that is like a mild gray color from mazda, is now painted... So its easy to spot.

I have a replica kit, VIS Magnum kit, fit 95% like stock,.... Looks just as good as any other Authentic MS kit. I even won 2nd best 8 in our Province at a MAZDA show! depends on the company who makes the replica and your body shop.

you'll end up paying AS MUCH for a replica as you would for a authetic part..
remember replicas come unpainted.. they will need to be primered and painted and that will run up several hundred dollars, then you will need to pay the body shop for the installation.. they will probably need to do some work on it to get it fit good.
authentic stuff you can do yourself and no need to pay for paint/labor.

yeah,. keep telling yourself that, replica's are a joke and winning a show isn't proof it looks good. I know this because shows are judged, and some of the events I've competed in (most recently HIN here in Austin) have jokes for show "judges", ****, the car behind me took home 3 trophies and it had a cracked sunroof, and the gaps on the kit it had were big enough for me to fit my index finger in, the paint wasn't even shiny, despite it being clear coated.
Seriously, here's a few things to consider when buying a "replica":
1. They're ripping off legit companies to make a quick buck, using inferior materials and manufacturing practices.
2. Fitment is never right, you should NEVER have to hack up your kit to make it fit, if anything, minimal work should be done or no work at all.
3. In reference to the above, my authentic kit required NO modification whatsoever, came pre-painted, fit perfect, has survived getting clobbered with road debris, I've run over stuff driving it to work and twisted my sideskirt bracket, instead of the skirt cracking or shattering, it sat on the car twisted, we fixed the bracket, re-taped/mounted it, and it looks fine.
4. Not only is fitment bad on most of these, but ALL the ones I've seen at dozens of events I compete in with my car all have gigantosaurus waves in the surface as well, most people try and cover it up with gaudy paint jobs but you can see it in the light pretty well, and it's just embarassing to see that at a show.
4. Buying knock off **** is so cheesy, you're not saving that much, you're supporting a company who makes their money ripping off other companie's ideas, every time you see another 8 with a real kit you're going to be hating your car and wishing you'd gone that route, why buy a $300 kit for a 30k car? It's like those dudes who drive around in mashed up $500 nasty 80's cars with $20,000 28" rims on them, doesn't make sense and looks like ***.
Seriously man, you get what you pay for in body kits, every time, it's just not worth it to buy something that's already messed up before it even goes on the car, take the time to save up and do it right, you'll be much happier in the long run, plus if/when you decide to sell it your real parts will pay you back more than fake ones.

You get what you pay for.
With the authentic, if you get into an accident, they replace it/fix it under warranty?
Someone back me up on this, im not completely positive, but I read it some other thread...

LOL! your a funny guy, i litterally laughed my *** off reading your post.
if you think "authentic" kits dont require fitting and bolt straight up than you obviosly have no clue what your talking about. Go ahead and ask ANY body without the genuine MS kit if there kit bolted straight up.
Ask Chrism if his authentic Veilside kit bolted right up, NO kit fits like OEM, genuine or not. the only kit that will bolt straight up is the Genuine MS kit.
Clearly you do not read properly, this was a MAZDA Event, Held by MAZDA. if they dont know what a genuine kit is, than who does?
Also you talk about "waves" in your kit.... clearly the body shops you deal with are junk..
I do not support "cheap" replicas. there are replicas that no one should touch, but by branding ALL replica's as cheap is just rubbish. Dont come on here and try telling me what "you" think is good, ask your boy Lazi who you bought your wheels from, you big him up and he sure does know what he's doing... ask him if his first kit was real. ........ you made my night bro... have a good one.
PS: this is taken from TODAYS show.

Kris your car happened to be one of the lucky few...yes my VeilSide was not perfect but it wasnt horrible either.....my nose is absolutely spot on, sides are too but the rear could use more adjustment (even more so now that i bumped off a few driveways).....there are some reputable companies out there that make replica's but they are far and few in between.....its a matter of who you trust and what thier methods are...canary is right too because i have also seen some horror stories when it comes to replica's....so in essence you are both right but with a replica its a much bigger risk and the chances of you getting less than perfect are pretty high....unless you know the company you are pretty much rolling the dice

wow that white one is extremely sexy, with body kits u get what u pay for, if u try to save a buck and goin the cheap way out at the end u wont be happy cause most likely it wont fit right. if u dont have the money to buy an authentic kit right now then keep saving up and buy one when u have the money thats all ull be much happier if u do

my authentic ms was just so much easier to deal with than a replica. i got and i put it on with hand tools in my driveway. with a replica it would have been a much harder and longer process.
also the material that the authentic is made of is amazingly strong. i accidently backed off a curb wrong and basically landed the the front of my car on the bumper and all i have to do is uninstall it and put it back on to get the tabs back under the headlights. if it was fiberglass it probably would have shattered.
