That's the RE Amemiya RX-8. (or one of them, anyway) There's a lot of pics of that particular white car circulating many Japanese mags.
Ricey, perhaps. YMMV. Personally I like the wing, but it seems more suited to higher end vehicles like Supras and RX-7s, not t he RX-8. I don't, however, care for the height at all. I would choose to have the shorter vertical struts (ala Border wings) to allow the wing to sit closer to the body, but that's just me. (^_^) Dispite the objectionable styling, one can't argue that RE Amemiya is one of the premier rotary tuners in Japan. I think they, if anyone, have every right to do whatever the hell they want to the cars they tune. There's nothing rice about much of what they do. They race--and thus require race bred products to remain competetive.

I think that they have to SELL the cars, and the people that are more apt to buy the modded cars are those that would also appreciate a ricey look. I however, am not one of those people.

I think people get too hung up on all this "rice" stuff. Some people just like the way it looks. Not to mention that this particular example is VERY tasteful by typical "rice" standards.

My only point was that RE Amemiya races RX-7s (albeit not very successful so far this year in JGTC) and it's not surprising to see them incorporate some of their ideas and style into the RX-8.

anyways, as evel was saying, that's not what i'd qualify as rice... over the top, definitely, tacky for some (me), but not rice. that's too polished, too "still arguably functional" to be rice... if it was covered in Neon Gold #9.5 with chicken-wire grill inserts, some Mugen window stickers, a completely non-functional-flat-twin-aerofoil wing at 45 degrees AOA, and a serious coffee can on the back farting around town, that would be rice... this is just something that doesn't suit my tastes.
well, okay, maybe the rims are ricey, but that's about it.

I DO like the rims. Just the rims alone with the white look really good to me, but don't care for the wing. I do like the window tinting, also. I'd seen some earlier photos of a fully tinted RX-8, I believe, but not the "half" tinted look. Florida laws dictate a similiar "half" tint, so it's nice to see an example. I will definitely get mine tinted immediately.

i'm sure there's some performance parts in the car besides the aftermarket wing and rims...i think a lot of ppl have misconceptions on what is "rice" and what are performance upgrades...i consider "rice" those fakers that make their car look faster than it really is...for instance, someone that buys Momo valve stem covers and wallpapers their car with Momo stickers...where's the performance in that? i've noticed this one eclipse driving down my street, all "riced" out...he's got the Altezza lights, 5 foot tall wing, rims, compact disc sized exhaust tip and nothing else...he even went so far as to scrape the RS badge from the trunk...
but cars with actual performance parts shouldn't be considered "rice"...unfortunately it's so hard nowadays to tell what really is "rice" and what isn't...
the worst ricers are those Mustang and domestic car owners that bolt on Japanese parts like Altezza lights and Supra style wings...

Forget about the wing and the rice taunts etc etc.
What about the RE-Amimeya Exhaust system on that car.
Or did you miss that.
RE are Japan no1 RE tuner and this car is used to display RE's products.
Which includeds the RE GT Wing which is also found on the JGTC car and most of Japans nasty 300km/h street-driven monsters !
So is a ricey universal wing no its a full race bred GT wing. Which at been wind tunnel tested. So rice - defnately no !
Also that car as a set of Quatum coil over shocks etc etc.
For more visit there website

Take a good look at the exhaust folks. That's the last time it is ever going to look that shinny.
Also, I think the super dark window tint is a factory or "port" option in Japan. Police in Japan don't have to worry about someone pulling a 12 guage on them when they approach the car like they do in the US.

Ps. The white is awesome.

LOL !!!!!
You've never been to Japan have you ?
The cops have worse things to contend with over in Japan like the bike gangs.
Then some Redneck driving a GMC pickup with a 12 guage :P
