KC_RX8,

Did you do anything with the styrofoam looking thing behind the OEM front mesh grill? Would you also know the purpose of that thing?

that would be there to 1) help absorb impact 2) aid in retaining structural integrity to the mold...

if you're talking about painting the styrofoam don't use an oil base...the polymers will eat right through the foam and you'll end up with liquid styrofoam all over your garage...

ya I'm talking bout the styrofoam. Thanks for the tip. By the way, would the plain aluminum mesh grill look good with the red 8 or should I paint it black?

I'd say black - but I wouldn't use paint, because that will show chips very easily. Get it powdercoated, it's a much tougher coating and will look infinitely better after a year or two.

Gordon

Even anodized would look better than paint...google a search on anodizers...you can get it done pretty cheap these days...

here are a couple of quick notes on what me and a buddy of mine encountered.....

-in the rear lip, we had to completely shave down the plastic bumper and place the rotary extreme rear right on top. for those who want to go back stock, that might be a problem!
-i suggest not to use double sided tape on darker colored cars. they will be visible at the intersections. i used black adhesives.
-removal of wheels may be necessary to screw in ends of the side skirt to be flush with the wheel well.
-after the installation of the side skirts, your jack will still have enough clearance but some store lifts will not be able to fit... buyers beware!! a quick fix i use is to have a 2x4 in the truck just in case.

that's all the info. i can think of right now but will be sure to post if i think of some more... Thanks for reminding me PUR NRG! any news or pix of your install?!

I think the kit has a plate cover that comes with it. rotaryextreme said that the reinforcements for the american rx8 's are larger and a bigger plates are needed to cover the reinforcement bars and styrofoams. Can somebody confirm this?

Is shaving down the plastic stock rear bumper necessary only for the replical MS kit? If the real authentic MS kit does not need the rear bumper to be shaven, I would rather buy that. I do not want to have half a rear bumper when I want to go back to stock.

I think you have to do it for the authentic ms kit as well (correct me anyone if i'm wrong!). Chuck from rotaryextreme.com also included copies of the JDM ms kit installation manual where it states that some shaving is needed.

Theres always a chance that I might want to resell the car. And by doing so, I would like to take off the kit and resell that also. But since the authentic kit requires shaving. I will consider it.
