I took my car to the dealership and the first time, they cleaned it off.

took it home noticed there was still some there

went back to the dealership they said "keep an eye on it we think it's just dirt"

i consider it total BS... but meh.

I know it's difficult to see in the pics but it's there ^_-

It may be some particulate stuff that's settling on your paint (and in your rain gutters) and oxidizing. Always more noticable on a silver car. Is there a foundry or other iron-using industry in your area?

If it doesn't come off with a clay bar or very light polish, then it may be a paint imperfection.

Good luck!

I was just rolling this over in my head, but...would metal flake in the paint oxidize a little? I noticed tiny (and I mean tiny...much smaller than this (.) period) rust spots on my hood when I was washing it. I didn't get really concerned by it since it didn't look like it was through the paint, but something on the surface.

Any resolution on this?

I've got the same tiny "rust" spots showing up on my three week old silver RX-8. They are all over the place, on the front bumper too.

I've heard of "rail dust" causing problems like this -- when the car is transported by train, particles of metal from the rails & wheels can get embedded in the paint. A clay bar should take them out.

http://www.autopia-carcare.com/inf-clay.html is a good guide, or search the Show & Shine forum for clay.

Clay bar did the trick! Plan on spending a whole day though.

I hope these "rust" spots do not come back anytime soon...I went to a silver car from a black car to avoid the constant cleanings...
