It doesn't matter what everone else thinks as long as you like it. Anyhow, for US$45 who cares it's not much anyway.

Since we're talking about CF parts here, this is a picture of a CF replica Mazdaspeed diffuser I finally installed this week. (Had it for over a year.) In this case I think the CF looks better than the black plastic the Mazdaspeed part uses.

Yes it was the first one made by RE. It required maybe 10 hours or so of work on my part to trim, sand and otherwise prep. Fitment is fairly good for a handmade part but there are some defects in the resin and they never made the middle bumper hanger. Also keep in mind that CF for a bumper eliminates any practicality--any bumps/dings will be very visible as cracks in the resin.

Hmmm *ponderponder*
I like it, especially if you're gonna have other carbon stuff. Personally I'm more for doing chrome on the outside. I just put a chrome fuel door on my grey 8. Next will be strakes and exhaust finishers. Then a big chrome double wing (Ha! Kidding...) Actually I'll eventually get a simple lip spoiler like the Ings.

It looks good. Doesn't look out-of-place since you've also got the CF B-pillars.
Any CF pieces I install will be inside or under the hood. I'm getting a CF dash pod from cortc soon and I just won this REALLY CHEAP carbon fiber fuse box cover on ebay.

I know late to the party, but I have a gray 8 as well and imo, that cf lid is of place. Just like a guy with a big mole on his face, I don't want the focal point of the car to be the fuel lid, you know? Cheap enough though and an easy enough to install to switch back and forth.

OK I have descided something, I will get graphics about the same color as carbon fiber that will flow over the CF fuel lib but not on it, then it will blend better. What do you think about that?

bling (n)
1. Money or jewelry
2. Anything shiny
Usage: The rapper wore lots of bling around his neck
^^^ not my definition..it's THE definition. and I think it'd be hard (in my opinion) for cf to look "gaudy"..i agree sometimes..it just shouldn't be used.. but taken in the most extreme form..a whole car made out of carbon fiber like the altezza in this pic looks pretty darn cool..and actually is a benifit..so if that isn't gaudy..i dunno what is.. of course that's just my opinion.
i just think it's funny(hypocritical) you gettin on him about the fact he coulda spent the money on performance parts....and then you get on me about stating the known real definition of "bling"...and saying it's done for looks and for minimal performance benefit....usually gaudy in appearance..and then you talk about installing your cf diffuser...which most would consider in your realm of your "bling" definition. I think alot of people would agree with you and say carbon fiber is bling. but it's just incorrect.. it just happens to look really nice in alot of applications.. but when it boils down to it..it's made for weight savings while preserving some strength..sometimes adding to it.
Why is it "in this case"..? i agree it looks good.. but maybe he thought in his case it looked good too.. it's his car ..it's his opinion.. obviously you both like carbon fiber..so do i. so if you don't like it..say so..since he asked opinions....just don't make up something like bling..because you don't like it.
and so you know..this isn't a flame thing.. i have read your posts before and you have some good things to say..not hatin on you!
so chill.. just want everyone else to know that cf...and bling..really have a hard time being put in the same sentence in real definitions. carbon fiber to anyone that is not involved in cars(esp show cars it seems)..racing..aerospace apps...etc. usually do not like it and think it's quite ugly...wondering why in the world someone would "put that black hood on a perfectly nice looking car"....haha..i've heard that before..she didn't care that it was cf..she thought it looked ugly! so as far as it adding bling in your definition, that doesn't work..
and..also..sorry for the late response.. been having a family crisis as of lately..everything's cool now. got luv for ya bro..so don't fret! just want to emphasize the whole bling cf thing.. u just happened to be the one this time.
if i had the means to do it.. you bet i'd have an all carbon fiber rx-8..and i think it'd look pretty damn cool AND lighten that sucker more for performance..lol that includes the gas cap. ........I'll leave the tires rubber for now..
