Series 2 tail light for series 1??
2004 2008 Mazda RX 8 RX8 LED Smoked Tail Lights Rear Lights JDM Type RH LH | eBay
Have you guys seen this? I understand that if you purchase S2 taillights, modifications are required to fit S1. But the description on this sounds like it's custom made for S1...
Anyone have any clue?

I can't find the other video but in this one you can see the LED's burnt out, this video was posted on a RX-8 FB group. FF to 1:22. I will try and find the other one, the LEDS just look cheap IMO and obviously the quality is not great.

Some of the things we saw;
1) Disconnect your battery before you install
2) You have to tighten the tail-lights to mold the gasket provide, if you don't you will see the gap at the edge of the tail-light like the last picture and condensation.
3) You're DSC and Airbag light MIGHT come on due to the LED setup, when I say MIGHT, I mean we have seen the lights come on in one car and not in another car. Not sure if it is the way people have installed them. There is a thread on the forum about it. But like I said, we saw first hand, one member had the lights on and one didn't.
Your judgement and at the end of the day you're call.

Not sure if it's the picture angle but the first photo the gap at the edge is nice and tight compared to the last pictures. Is that what your referring to? Thanks for posting up close pictures.

Yes, that's what I'm referring to. I want to show the difference of camera angle, so you could see it as you would in person.
Again. We did not get this tail-light from eBay, but from a Japanese vendor with the shipping address from Japan. Not sure if the eBay ones are made by the same manufacturer. Our lights are made in Taiwan and Distributed in Japan. I was told they've gone thru the Japanese QC process.

They just look cheap IMO, they remind me of the aftermarket Alteeza tail lights back in the 90's. But the most important part is the quality of the LED's, how they look illuminated at night, do they last, etc. These are the same design as the one in the video and it has burnt out LED's. I assume that the manufacturer is the same since they look exactly the same. I was not able to find the other video Gregs, It had a weird title, I hate when people don't use tags.

Some of the guys here in AUS picked up these lights recently. I haven't had the chance to see them in person though. They don't look too bad in pictures, but there was no way I was going to pick these over the real deal.
