Your link doesn't work, but keep in mind Momo ***** while being nice shiftknobs aren't threaded and a direct fit. This will bother some people and not others.

Do a search on Voodoo *****. There's a fairly recent thread about them, and they have a website (google on 'voodoo'). Some people don't care for Voodoo *****, but I replaced my stock **** with one, and have been very happy with it. The voodoo ***** are aluminum (or titanium, if you want to spend the extra money), threaded, no set screw, and a perfect fit for the 8. The stock **** is very cool-looking, but not as comfortable or as much fun as my Voodoo ****. YMMV.

This is a very nice shifter, but I've got to ask... are you changing any of the interior? Call me crazy, but this will stick out like a sore thumb. Just my opinion, but the colors will not be very striking.
Perhaps going with a blk leather solid? Just wanted to give my opinion since I look at the interior every day.
(Great price on this one though!)

I like the stock **** too. Isn't round and fits nicely in the hand. I do like the dual color leathers, but I've only found automatic ***** in the two-tone leather

OHHHH Puma! That will look SWEET with the wood!!! :D

Some people like their sports car to look tough and raw. The RX-8 does it nicely without looking cheap (thanks to chrome/steel accents and lots-o-lights). Others like the RX-8 to be more of a touring sports car and to show its handling refinement by being a class above, hence the wood accessories.

Personally, I've always liked wood accents. On my rex, I've kept more of a hardcore look and will be adding mods to make it more on the lines of a track car. Maybe in the next rex I will become more demure and classy :D

That's what I LOVE about this car! It appeals widely and can be SO MUCH by using so little!

I used to own the Momo Race airleather/alloy mainly got it because it matched my steertingwheel nicely and I like ball shifters. It bugged me that the shiftboot didn't hook up to it like the stock **** and I was constantly fiddling with it as a result. I sold it and got a Prodrive **** which is a direct fit, shiftboot and all and I like it much much better.

I want to change the shift **** also but I disagree.
The stock shifter is very nice and comfortable to me.

I find the stock RX-8 shifter to be a great fit in my hand. My old Miata came with a nice Nardi wood one, but I swapped that out for a nicely balanced brushed aluminum Voodoo **** for a sportier feel. I think putting wood accents in the RX-8 might look out of place if you're not going to do a dash kit or add other wood accents.

IMO, the RX-8 being made a sports car, has all the touches of sportiness in its design. Wood trimming would just spoils the look of it. Classiness doesn't live in the 8. Classiness would more be your Benz, Jag ....

By the way, I've got some friends who've got Momo *****, have problems with the tightener screws. They've used the ***** on their miata, and like the RX-8 they all have a very short shifter. The **** you're looking at is very tall, and what will happen is that, the **** will only sit half way down the shifter shaft, thus the only support holding the **** and the shaft are 3 small contact points from the screws. Very soon the **** will come loose after some hard throwing shifting actions.

The stock **** is very comfortable to me, too. I wouldn't change it unless there was something really much better to change to.

The only issue I noticed with the stock **** was the silver edge wearing through to the plastic underneath. I liked the shape and feel, but I did swap it out for a round one...

I like the way the little triangle (the stock rotary shifter) fits right in the webspace between by thumb and index finger. And you can rotate the triangle to change the angle to fit perfectly.

Kind of unique, like the car itself.

Another vote for the voodoo ****. As luck would have it, the RX8 and Miata share the same thread size for the shift **** and so the Voodoos are a direct fit and screw down tight like the OEM, instead of using set screws (which tend to get loose and wobbly). I prefer the spherical shape because I can orient my grip any way I want. The stock **** is not bad though. What I wanted most of all was custom engraving and you can get that added to your VooDoo **** at The Knobmeister. He's also got wooden ***** with the proper threaded inserts if that's more your taste.

I'm expecting mine real soon; here's a mock-up
