Side skirt install question

There are a set of "rubber" bumpers, under the car, just right where the side skirts go. Do you guys know if you have to remove them or keep them on? I have removed just one side. It's a long piece of rubber, i guess it's for when you bottom out. But there are some type of hooks that connects and holds the rubber in place. Do the hooks need to get cut? I have tried pre-fitting the side skirts. The bumper gets in the way and when the rubber is removed, the hooks are in the way. Any info is great.

It is the stone guard.. and it all depends on the side skirts you're installing to determine whether they need to be removed.. or strategically cut. Those "hooks" also come out,, in fact they should have come out with the stone guard all in one piece. I know the Mazdaspeed side skirts required you to cut it (gap it) at certain intervals so you could affix the brackets to the chassis.

The OEM aero kit requries you to cut it in places and remove it. I'd imagine you would have to take it off or cut it in certain places.

Do the skirts not have any instructions?

No i didn't come with instructions. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to cut them or reomive anything that I wouldn't be able to put back on. I will see what I can come up with.

i honestly think if your going to install side skirts of any kind, the stone guard is useless so basically instead of wasting your time trying to measure and cut it in certain places, i say just get rid of it.

i was going to cut mine, but i just took it off and sold it to another member here on the forum because the side skirts are much lower than the placement of the stone guards so what was the point of having them there in the first place?

just make sure you leave the caps on the holes in the chassis to protect the inner chassis from the elements, gunk, and all that good stuff...
