Actually its cheaper than you think! All you really need to do is soak your lights in food coloring!

Probably will look good until you get rained on.
When I was in the military, we use to tint clear glasses with Rit Dye to make sunglasses.
The good thing about Rit is you can reverse or lighten the tint with bleach.
The trick is to boil the dye... Yes, boil it! and make sure to stir, stir, stir. Use
a cheap LARGE pot that you can throw out after.Aa wooden spoonto stir with.
You'll need to continuously move (stir) the lenses so no undissolved clumps
of Rit will stick and leave darker spots
Remove the pot from the heat and dip BOTH plastic lenses at the same time
in 30 second intervals. When they get as dark as you want, you're done. If
you get them too dark just soak them in Clorox for 30 second intervals.

I would do it if I didn't have Shinka Polished Lights.

 

I have had the idea for a while but never got around to trying it. I had a friend who died his headlights on his honda yellow and it looked great. I want to try making the clear corners in SMOKE. I suppose a clear corners could be died in any color, red, blue, etc.. This has been done with sportbike lights for a while and its all the rage! example.. (blue tinted corners on a blue rx8) Take notes.. There would be alot of people that will want this!!!! BIG $$$$$$$ POTENTIAL

 

Hey MSTYLES, I notice you have different levels of darkness for the lights (light/medium/dark). Would you happent o have any pictures of the those tint levels? Specifically the light and medium. The pics on your site seem to be all dark but I'd like to verify.

Also, is your RX-8 at that shop normally? I live in Suwanee, GA and would love to come by, get my lights smoked and visit your car

 

yeah if you get some pics up ill be ready to do this in like a week when i get my other tail light in.

so.... back to the food coloring. if you dye it on the inside it doesnt come off id imagine?

 

This looks promesing but pricy, i would love to get this done but want to see the results first as well as any laws reguarding this topic in california. Is smoking and blacking out the same thing? i supose it is all up to the cops discretion (sp).

 

yeah if cops just want to be mean about it they will pull you over. i bought some cheap extra tail lights off ebay so if i ever get a fix-it ticket i can just swap them out
