speed bumps and body kits

i love the look of some of the kits ive seen of some members. however, im hesitant to get one since i live in an area with a lot of steep hills, speed bumps, etc.

does anyone have any problems scraping or cracking their front lip? it looks like most cant even clear a speed bump!

I am so close on purchasing the replica kit, I've seen so many on ebay these days (Urethane only of course) and I'm really debating on picking it up and getting it installed. Do you think I should? I could get these tires/wheel package for $1860, or keep saving and getting the FI, or spend $1700 for the Interceptor-X and see how it will run on an N/A engine, or I can do a system in the car, about another $1500 or so.

The kits on ebay are around $700-$800 for the Urethane MS-Style type kits, but I am wondering how much paint/install will be? Will it still be cheaper than $1500, $1600, $1860 etc.

I have the eibach springs and no body kit and have to be careful about the speed bumps I cross, driveways, even car washes, etc. I can barely clear a coke can under the car so i have to be careful and the exhaust hangs just a tad in the rear so I have to watch it as well.

Hmm, weird, I have S-techs and never really had that bad of a time getting up driveways and speed bumps, I just gotta hit the brakes and let the momentum carry me over it. Every now and then, I hear a scrap, but I don't see any damage to my stock bumper, so I'm guessing it's those two black things that hang down sorta infront of the tires. I don't know what they are called, but if you look you will see them. I'd love to pickup a MS kit though.

I have the INGS lowered with s techs, and don't have too much of a problem. There are a lot of driveways and such where I normally drive. I say go for it.

It's not speed bumps you have to worry about its driveways. Bodykits are headaches period. I think the ms kit is your safest bet not having to really worry about driveways or speed bumps. I have the autobahn kit with jic coilovers, and I scrap most driveways. I like the way it looks, but my heart stops everytime I have to go up a driveway.

$500 for paint & install? Is that a hook up price because shops here in Bayarea, Cali charges a crap load more, usuall at least $1000 for paint & install for a full bodykit!

I have INGs front and Veilside D1GT skirts, not lowered at all, and don't really have trouble anywhere. Do go very slowly over speed bumps as its the suspension travel as much as anything that could cause a scrape. Lots of multi-storey, steep ramp car parks around and not a problem.

I think if you go with lowering kits and a body kit, thats when the trouble starts. INGs is only about 1 inch lower than stock.

I have the Front Lip from VeilSide, MS Sides and 19'' Wheels and even tough it looks lowered it still stock high so I don't have to worry on Bumps or Driveways.

Hey zoomzoom, does it just scrape on the underside of the kit, or are the scrapes visible when you look at the front of the bumper?

I have the 'mazda factory' kit, or however its called...
my coilovers lowered the car ~3cm. now with my new 225/40 tires its even more low.
however, running over the speed bumps is not a problem for the front air dam but for the front mad guards... once the wheel is past the bump, the mudguards are always getting scratched....

Most of the abuse is taken by the carbon fiber splitters I had installed with the fit. But there is a pretty bad scrape visible. Thinking about getting rid of it period or upgrading to larger wheels to give me more clearance.
