Super White 194 Bulbs (autolumination)--bright white light?
I was thinking of switching out the five stock 194 bulbs from the map lights, door lights and license light for the Super White 194 bulbs from autolumination.com. I do not want LEDs. These are traditional bulbs.
If anyone has used these Super Whites in the car, is the color a bright white or is there a bluish tint? Are they brighter than the stock bulbs and how is the life/longevity?
Thanks much!
http://autolumination.com/194.htm (They are $1.49 each from them.)

what? you dont or do want LED's? from what ive seen, replacing all the interior lights with LEDs looks sick, especially white, blue, or red (well, what other colors are there anyway?). i just ordered me a bunch from superbrightleds.com and theyll be here soon.

I have the xenon bulbs, not leds. I heard the leds don't dim as they turn off like the bulbs do, so I just go the xenon bulbs. There is definitely a bluish tint to them and they are not nearly as bright as the stock bulbs, and probably not as bright as the leds too, but I like them and don't feel like switching them out anytime soon. However, if you go that route get an led or something for the rear dome light. I got the xenon bulb for that light and it still looks very yellow. I'm thinking of getting a blue bulb, which will probably match the xenon interior bulbs better.

i tried going that route for my interir bulbs...
the bulbs you are referring to will be brighter & somewhat whiter than stock, though not really super white as they are called. they are still very much yellowish...
if you want a true white bulb... you're gonna have to get LED's. i learned this after trying out several bulb brands. LED's are the only replacement if you're looking for a really bright white color.

Thanks for the help dgrx8. I wanted to try to keep the stock fadeout on the lights so will give these a shot. To replace the five interior lights and license light is only 11 bucks total from autolumination. It's not a big expense to try them out.

I think I read that if you do the tail lights to get an LED that diffuses its light or a multi one or it'll shine right out the tail in one direction instead of hitting the reflectors.

Buyer beware when it comes to Autolumination.com. I bought basically every bulb that you could get for an RX-8 from them and had some very mixed results. A cheap-o foglight bulb ($4.95 I think) burnt out within a month, and I rarely use them. I sent an email to the company and they replaced it for me for free. A day later the other bulb burnt out. I never bothered contacting the company for a replacement. You get what you pay for, and I'm considering other options for these.
I replaced my inner headlight bulbs (marker lights?) with the white LED bulbs from them and both sides had several of the LEDS burn out or flicker quite quickly. I replaced them with an extra set of amber LED bulbs that I ordered and those have worked for months without issues.
I replaced my door lights, brake lights, reverse lights, side markers and Derwankel rear rotary accent light all with LEDs and they still shine brightly too.
Here are 2 pic sof my car's rear LEDs and a quick write up on my site:

I really like the look of the LEDs, but am looking for a more reliable source.
Their quality seems to be hit or miss.

Thumbs down on the non-LED hyper white 194 bulbs from autoilumination.com. The little LED light on my keychain is more impressive. Fake looking blue and dim. Back to stock for me.
