Temporary Bra?

Any have any ideas about building up and installing a temporary bra for the front of my 8?

I'm planning on driving 1600 miles (round trip) to Toronto Canada from New York and would like to protect my paint from stone chips. I've done this drive before and have had little stones tossed up by SUVs and trucks chip my paint on the front bumper and hood. Needless to say, I get sick when I hear the 'plink' of a stone against my metal.

So I heard about these guys with an Audi that covered it with 3M Safe Release Blue Tape and drove it cross country. http://www.didntyouhear.com/2006/11/19/1253/

I wonder if this would work? Any thoughts?

It works for small rocks and bugs. I use it sometimes too.

You can put Painter's tape all over the front bumper like the track and autocross guys do.

Nice, I had a clear bra on my 8 for about 2 years. I worked great and didn't leave any discoloration when I removed it. Who installed the product?

yea tim, I figured it was that time again. Haha. when did u remove ur clear bra? Didnt know...
I got it done by starshield in irwindale. They did a really nice job on it. Much better than the job aerotect did for me back a while ago. Then again it was pretty pricey in comparison. Lol

I thought I read that someone on the board made temporary covers intended for track days. The costs was minimal and looks way better than blue tape.

Huhwha - I know about the spray on bra stuff but it doesn't protect against stone chips which is what I'm really concerned about.

I think I'll take Dominion's suggestion and go with two coats of 3'' wide.
