i've been staring at my calipers... and there horrible looking.
so now i've been figuring it's time to paint them.
can anyone please help me make a decision on what colors to use?
im guessing imma get polak's rx8 stencil when i do this.
my car is a sunlight silver with red/black interior.
thanks all

red black interior? well then probably Red or Black :P you could do silver though
Me? I'm going to properly paint the rotor center silver (prevent rust) and the caliper...PURPLE I haven't see it yet...which could mean it is a good or a bad thing

Walmart, $10 a can. Works great as you can see from the pictures, and I've had mine painted about 6 months without issue. The only problem has been brake dust that I didn't clean off - I recently found some brake dust cleaner (comes in a purple spray bottle) that melts the dust off the rims and calipers... and my mazda dealer scratching one of the calipers when they changed the brake pads for the new non-squeeking kind.

I have two types of paint right now...one that says 600 and another that says 900 and possibly higher (designed for racing applications, the G2 kit I got from rx8garage.net).
Now I've heard great things about the G2 paint kit and that it really does hold up...so is why I'm going with it...what I've read is that most paints will be fine until some heavy stopping where it will start breaking down and if it comes off and gets in between the rotor and the pad...the pad is damaged and must be replaced
Also I was going to put several coats on to smooth it out but apparently this insulates the caliper and can reduce effective braking...so only two coats for me

Guys, gals...this might be work but this is the type of stuff that I will love about getting the 8. It will be the first car that is worth updated, upradeing, personalizing, etc...so I read stuff like this and it just makes me smile.
Again, I know it's work but it seems like fun just spending time with the old girl....I CAN'T WAIT!

I painted my calipers red on my sunlight silverRX-8., and it looks great!
I got the paint from Autozone for like $15. It's rated to (I think) 500 degrees. I haven't had a problem with them in the almost 2 months they've been painted.
It's the paint on kind from a kit...I didn't have to remove the calipers, or anything. Just tape off around the pads, etc.... It wasn't hard at all, and I'm not even remotely a car master.
Enjoy, it was fun!

I have seen some people put the rx-8 decals on their calipers. Does anyone know where I could get a custom designed decal done to put on them? For that matter, while the question is out there, how about a place where I could get custom decals in general.

I just came from my dealer with complaints on rust on the rotors. He stated that no amount of paint would keep the rust from reappearing. He would replace the rotors or paint them. It was all up to me. Suggestions......
