Thinking body kit

Need your expertise help here. I'm thinking of getting a body kit , this will be my first ever. I've had my car now for a little over a year now, seen some pictures with the kit and they look awesome. Just need to get the wife to think alonge those lines. Anyway here are my questions

1. Will I have problems with speed bumps. I live near the city and some side streets have them.

2. Would have to get them painted and if I do I guest , I would have to take to body shop to take care of that.

3. What would be the average cost for that ? I understant that it's going to be different and all , but just need and idea. The kits I'm looking at are around 1,000.00 to 1,200.00. They probably wont let me go over that.

4. If you guys have anything else feel free to inquire.

5. Thanks.

all depends on what you get for a kit, if you are doing rough roads with alot of dips mazdaspeed isnt any lower than stock in the front. You can get away w/ alot of body kits if you are careful *and your wife*

2. Would have to get them painted and if I do I guest , I would have to take to body shop to take care of that.
Yes, if you want the best fit/finsh and paintjob take it to a GOOD body shop. dont be cheap, most of the the time with paint you get what you pay for.

Are you lowered rims anything you might want to think about those mods, you could get a nice set of rims and lowering springs and a cheaper lip kit for around 2200.. and you 8 would look awesome.

5. Thanks.

1. Will I have problems with speed bumps. I live near the city and some side streets have them. It depends on the kit you buy, what varney said is pretty accurate and most bodykits won't have many issues with speedbumps. I'm lowered about 2 inches since I installed my coilovers and most speedbumps I dont have a problem with but I have to enter my driveway at an angle.

2. Would have to get them painted and if I do I guest , I would have to take to body shop to take care of that. I think the mazdaspeed kit is the only one that comes painted directly from mazda. The advantage of going that way is the fitment will be pretty much guaranteed and the color will also match. A body shop WILL have to install any other kit you decide to get since most kits require painting and some fitting.

3. What would be the average cost for that ? I understant that it's going to be different and all , but just need and idea. The kits I'm looking at are around 1,000.00 to 1,200.00. They probably wont let me go over that. All body kits end up costing about the same. If you buy an expensive kit from a reputable company then you'll have very little fitment issues and that would make the kit cheaper t install. Companies such as Extreme Dimensions make really cheap quality replica parts so their bodykit fitment is usually very bad. Those kits sometimes require you to spend up to twice of what the kit was worth just to get it to look OK.....

4. If you guys have anything else feel free to inquire. Aftermarket rims and your suspension would make a big difference especially in choosing what kit you want to get. I bought coilovers for that purpose. My 8 is quite low and I am still waiting for my bodykit. I think I'm going to have to raise my car slightly since the kit makes the nose of my 8 a bit lower.

5. Thanks. You're welcome.

The previous posters gave very good answers to your questions. The mazdaspeed kit is a no brainer if you want a kit that fits perfectly and already pre-painted to match 100% your car's color. The only negative is that mazdaspeed kit has become a bit common.

There are reports in this forum that INGS+1 kit has the lowest ground clearance. It is an awesome-looking kit, and was one of my choices. However, I eventually decided to join the FEED Group Buy

A few in this forum love the Veilside (like Chrism), but it seems that many think the Veilside is too aggressive-looking and too much over-the-top.

However, if you want to achieve an intimidating look for your car, the Veilside seems to do that job.

After looking around I't seem like I'm going veilside with the front , the Ver.1,
kko Krazy Kustomz for the side skirt and bumber, The ones call AIT RACING MINT

It's taken a little longer than I thought, calling here and there getting info and all. Any way what I was wondering has anyone made a purchased form Krazy Kustomz or has their kit. Any info appreciated.

You can go directly to AIT to get your kit.

I know this isn't something you mentioned as being interested in.What wasn't mentioned above was that RMagic kits can be had pre-painted. Some fitment may be necessary. I have no previous experience with them.

You really do not need a new rear. Look again. Now take a look in person at those rear kits.

Not much differance. Except Veilside, which I like.
