Ti:grey & CF hood
After some hail damage I'm looking to get either a Vis or Seibon CF OEM hood as a replacement since they're nearly identical in cost to the OEM mazda part. Does anyone have a picture of one of these CF hoods with a Ti:grey RX8? I'd really like to see how the contrast looks before I go buy one. Thanks.

I just didn't like the idea of rain water entering my engine compartment. Living in ohio we get our fair share of rain (nearly 40" per year). Do you plan to take your engine cover off in order to get more ventilation from the engine?
vOc, Nice looking car. I like how the CF hood looks. Did you put it on yourself? How long have you had it? & Has it faded in color at all? Love to see more pics of it.

Good point. I honestly hadn't thought about that. At least in San Diego we don't have to worry about that as much....
Has there been any discussion on whether or not removing the engine cover would help with temps?

zelig2, yes I put it on myself with the help of my gf. It a very simple install, you just have to be careful with both hoods as not to mess them up in the process.
I've had mine for 3-4 months now I believe but I bought it used. I think the hood is about 2 years old now.
It looks great as long as you wax it, and I mean a good wax. Within 2 weeks of no wax the hood looks dry and almost as if it had humidity stuck inside of it. But evertime I re-wax it, it looks good as new.
I'll be home in a little bit, I'll be sure to post pics.

I think it would look great, if rain isn't an issue I think the vented hoods look better.

Heres a couple of pics of my Veilside hood for kicks...
Vented hoods make the car look way more agressive and sexy IMO... I love mine. Plus my engine bay is A LOT cooler with that ventillation.

Thanks for the pics. Looks like the hardest part is going to be convincing the wife that it's a good thing. She keeps telling me the car looks messed up with a different colored hood.

I don't like the CF on the black because it's too close to black already but not close enough to match. Maybe with enough waxing and care it might be able to keep the same look, but everything I've seen online makes it look off.

For me, I think the CF hood will help complete the look I'm looking for. It just so happened I ran into one at a really good price I couldn't pass up. I would have gone with a bodykit prior to the hood first.
