...ticket...

well i finally got pulled over today for my window tint. its a $91.00 fine. 15% tint. its a non moving violation. does this mean i have to pull the tint? or can i just pay the ticket off and hope not to get caught next time?

if i remember right. i can just pay the fine and be okay. i dont have to proove its off the car.. and this doesnt give any points right?

should be in RX8 Discussion or possibly your regional forum.

if you can just pay the ticket do it. if they never said you had to prove it why bother taking it off?

You guys need to quit spreading false info!

Notice that this isn't an official Government site, but look what I found.

http://www.tintlaws.com/

HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN FLORIDA?

Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Florida, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.

Windshield Non-reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer's AS-1 line.
Front Side Windows Must allow more than 28% of light in.
Back Side Windows Must allow more than 15% of light in.
Rear Window Must allow more than 15% of light in.

HOW REFLECTIVE CAN THE TINT BE IN FLORIDA?

Similar to sunglass lenses, some tinting film contain metallic elements that help in reflecting incoming light and reducing the glare and heat generated by visible light.

Front Side Windows Must not be more than 25% reflective.
Back Side Windows Must not be more than 25% reflective.

OTHER FLORIDA RULES AND REGULATIONS

Restricted Colors No colors of tint are explicitly banned.
Side Mirrors Dual side mirrors are required if back window is tinted.
Certificate Requirements Manufacturers of film do NOT need to certify the film they sell in the state.
Sticker Requirements The sticker to identify legal tinting is required on the inside of the driver’s side doorjamb.
Medical Exemption State allows medical exemptions for special tint. For more details about the specific terms of the exemption, consult your state law.

Wonder how many of us actually have that sticker on the door jam?

VA is 50 front sides/35 rear sides & rear. That's what I have. IIRC jjwash45 got ticketed for 35% all round, but they ended up going after the tint shop since he paid for VA legal.

I had 35% put on my side windows and rear windshield in VA. The tint shop said that it tested at 28% because of the factory tint, no issues so far

i didnt care what the state says about tint. i paid for under the table 15% all around and 20% on my full front window. so i cant be pissed for finally getting a ticket.

just wondering if it had to be removed to pay the fine. or i just pay fine. its a non moving vilation.

Really not sure on that one.............did you ever find out?
It possible that they may make you come in and show them, but wouldn't that be a fix it ticket.............and it should spell that out on there?

I've wondered how much additive effect there was with the base tint. I had assumed 5% as a seat of the pants guess.
