Tinting suggestions/information

I just had my clear bra put on yesterday and the guy who did it also 'specializes' in window tinting. We got to talking a bit and he offered me a price of $180 for all the glass (not the windshield, of course!). Not sure if this is a 'deal' or not.
I've been debating adding tint....but....not sure about it. The 'law' in Michigan is that the drivers and passenger windows can only be tinted on the upper 4 inches. this would look 'dumb'. The tint guy said most people either do the entire window or go with a bit less tint on those windows. He did warn me about the possibility of getting a ticket for either. It depends on the cop (he did say he wasn't aware of anyone who has gotten into trouble but the possibility is there and it probably depends on the city and the mood of the cop!) He also indicated that I may not be happy with a two-tone tint job.......any idea's or opinions on this?

Thanks

id say go with a lighter tint and do the whole mirror. i think the two tone will look tacky. i dunno about michigan but in cali cops HATE dark tint.

it looks gangster as hell when u have limo tint, but you're not so gangster when the cop gives u a fix it and $180 goes down the drain.

you could also drive with the windows down most of the time, but i think it actually gets cold over there unlike cali.

its probably the car. the 8 stands out alot more than most. especially in winning blue and velocity red.

i think i'd get pulled over as soon as i left the tint shop if i had mirror tint!!!

I made it 3 months in Redding with 55 on the front sides and 95 side rears, back, and 6" front. Just as it hitting the high 90's here. Some gung-ho chp a__hole was chasing a speeder yesterday as I was coming off I-5. He slammed on his brakes, pulled on the side of the road, jumped out and waved "behind" himself for me to pull over. He then told me I had tinted sides, illegal, and because he was in a generous mood was going to give me a fix-it. I told him I bought the car in Oregon and had the tint legally installed in Oregon (it was legal there). He asked me if I was having an "attitude" with his generousity. Recognizing the alternatives weren't in my favor I took the fix-it. What happens if I don't fix it? Most cars up here have tinted sides because of the heat. I'd rather pay the fine then take it off and reinstall again.

Fanman (or anyone else for that matter) - Any pics of the two-tone (lighter drivers window and darker passenger) tint? I think if I tint, I'm leaning towards that (for legal sake) but really unsure of if it will look ok.
Thanks

Hi apotocki
I just got my red 8 3 days ago and found a chip on the hood already. I live in Waterford and can't find a clear bra installer. Where yours was installed? Are you happy with the installation?
Thanks

It all depends on the quality of the tint they are using and the warranty associated with the tint.
What brand of film does he use?:

Hi - Call Nate over at the Tint Shop in Brighton - 810-494-8468.

I'm happy with the overall installation. Mine was the first '8' he has done. I did have to take it back last week to have the bumper re-done as there was a 'slight' problem around the headlights where the film was not 'sticking'. This was a very small problem. The re-do proved to be a problem as working with the film in the 90 degree heat and humidity caused problems. But, overall I'm pleased. Nate was SUPER, very customer satisfaction oriented. Cost was $600 for the entire front end (and I have the App package)
I guess my only comment would be that if you are expecting the clear bra to be flawless, you may be disappointed. There are a few places where the film is not entirely smooth and when you really look at it up close, you can see it. This is more apparent on the bumper as opposed to the hood, fenders, and mirrors.
Please tell Nate that Alan referred you to him if you talk to him.

How much does the tint help with the heat? I have a black 8 with the black and red interior. It's been in the 90's for the first time since if had it here in MD the past few days, and it's an oven in there! Will the tint help alot even if it is the legal darkness??
