nah, just have it signed off and pay the ticket if you know how much it is. Most courts will reduce your fine if you appear though. In Cali, it's only a $10 fix it tix with Officer Signature, without it, it means nothing.

Just pay the fine and see what happens? The worst that can happen, is that they tell you that you need a officers signature? Let me know how it goes, bc I have 5% tints all the way around and will probably eventually get a ticket. (Knocks on wood) Good luck!

Should've had it done legal in the first place. No one ever listen to me. "I won't get a ticket." "My buddy has had his illegal for years." blah blah blah Every state and every cop is different. Some hand out fix it tickets, some hand out fines. You pay the fine and keep the tint and it'll just happen again later down the road. Make it legal and be done with it. Then you won't have to worry about future problems.

^Tint on the front windows is not legal in NJ.^
BenNy -
You will get pulled over by a bored cop.
You will eventually get a ticket (no fix-it tix in NJ).
One time I had a cop give me a choice between taking a tint ticket or showing up at the station (home town) and showing an officer the tint was removed. I never went and he never sent me a ticket. That's about as close to a fix-it ticket here.
I don't have tint on my 8. I don't need to give an officer any more reasons to pull me over, and I can't stand the way cars look with tint everywhere but the front windows.

Luckily I have friends that are cops that sign off my tickets.

[QUOTE]I can't stand the way cars look with tint everywhere but the front windows.
thats the only reason why i wanna just pay the fine... plus before i got them i thought they cant pulled you over for tints but they can additionally fine you if you get pulled over... thats why i got them because i figured hey as long as im not doing anything illegal it wont matter.. little did i know lol
how do you know if its a fix it ticket? it says courrt date was today and i didnt go...but its not checked off the im required to go nor did i call so does that matter? i really dont know what to do lol i went to the site and its 52 plus 2 fee and nothing is there about removing them and then lower charge or anything... help?

I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as a fix-it ticket in NJ. The best you can do is go on your court date and show them you have removed the tints (and then they will charge you a court appearance fee and maybe not drop the ticket). Or pay the fine and keep it on.
You gotta stop listening to the Cali people - the laws are different.

Oh yeah - about your court date:
As is explained on the back of your ticket, if you plan on fighting the ticket, you have to call something like two weeks prior to the date and they will set you up. If you haven't called the court or sent in a check for your fine by this date, you will most likely have a bench warrant out for you.
There may be a required court appearance for that.

just to add fuel to the fire. There is a tint law here in Florida but is NEVER enforced (unless you really p*ss-off the officer that pulled you over). It gets so sunny and hot here that they know it's a necessity, really. We get checkpoints for seatbelt enforcement but they don't write you up for the tint. I got 20% tint all around my 8 and I know of other cars with 5% limo tinting. Dude, just move down here!

I live in Florida too and mine is 15% just a little info. I'm sorry to hear your problem man that sucks. I already had to pay a $155 ticket for speeding so at least yours isn't as expensive. If it were me I'd just pay the ticket and hope that they don't mention anything about an officers signature. Good Luck man.

here's an idea. does anyone know how much two front replacment windows are? when you eventually do get a ticket, just swap the windows out, get it signed off, then swap them back. Of course, dont know how much of a hassle it is worth. I got 5% on my 8, and have never got a ticket yet. I am careful to roll down my windows, etc, and have just been lucky I guess. But I know one day, it is inevitable some smuck will ticket me. At that point, I either go around looking for a corrupt cop friend, or I buy two new windows or find some at a junk yard, then swap them out.
Another option, electronic tint, has anyone heard of this? It would require special LCD windows where the tint can be turned on and off at the press of a button. Unfortunately, only Gs and rappers can afford this....

Ahhh, yes, I knew I was forgetting something. There is a loophole in California Vehicle Code that allows for tinted windows as long as you have a doctors note. The code is not specific as to what tint % is allowed, but does say that the vehicle may not be driven at night...
10) Sun screening devices meeting the requirements of Section
26708.2 installed on the side windows on either side of the vehicle's
front seat, if the driver or a passenger in the front seat has in
his or her possession a letter or other document signed by a licensed
physician and surgeon certifying that the person must be shaded from
the sun due to a medical condition, or has in his or her possession
a letter or other document signed by a licensed optometrist
certifying that the person must be shaded from the sun due to a
visual condition. The devices authorized by this paragraph shall not
be used during darkness.

Can you tell me how you went about getting your doctor's note? Are you albino or a lepper or some legitimate skin disease or did you just smoothe one over on your doc? My doctor once diagnosed me with Rosacia so I am going to try and ask him for a note... If this doesn't work, can you possibly fax me your doctor's note?? I am considering the idea of making a counterfeit doctors note.... Have you been pulled over yet, what did the cop do when he saw the note?
Thanks

so you want illegally tinted windows so bad that you'll fake a presciption from a doctor and stop driving at night? do you realize that a doctor's note doesn't mean you won't get pulled over? you'll still get harassed by the cops, you might not get a ticket but you have to deal with getting pulled over. and buying extra glass for the front doors and switching them out whenever you get a ticket? hahahah

from another board...
thought i would share this with you guys. had a guy come in today with a brand new truck wanting it tinted. he asks about the film and the prices, blah, blah, blah. then says "whatever you put on it, just make sure it's legal."
naturally i'm curious, so i asked "why?"
the guy says he bought a new truck in Lufkin, Texas about 6 years ago, and had it tinted right after he bought it. he finally pays the thing off about a year ago, then last month he wraps it around a tree late at night and totals it. (says he fell asleep. )
when the insurance company sends out an adjuster, the adjuster says the windows are !llegally tinted, and they refuse to pay anything. the guy told me he wasn't aware that they were !llegal.
now, the guy has been cancelled by the insurance company, was thrown into the high risk bracket, and pays $513 a month in car insurance. plus, he lost what little money he could have gotten for his other truck, which he sold to the body shop that towed it for $200.
since he "didn't ask for the windows to be !llegally tinted", he's looking for the guy that did it. (the shop has long since gone out of business--imagine that) and said he's gonna sue his azz if he ever finds him.
so, for all of you !llegal tinters---and those of you ****** texas morons who think 30% tint is legal in texas----maybe you should consider this kind of thing when you slap that shiat on for someone. because rest assured, if something like this happens to them, whether they asked for it or not, they WILL come looking for your dumb azz.
and please--save your breath--no one gives a damn about what you think should be the law--especially a judge. i'm showing you dumbazzes what can REALLY happen--AND IS HAPPENING--all across america. it doesn't make a damn difference if the inspection places pass the car or if cops don't enforce it in your area. the fact is, insurance companies have found yet another way not to have to pay a claim. and when the dust settles, guess who's gonna be left holding the bill??
