Universal diffuser idea

I have a few ideas that I want to run by some of you and get some opinions. I'm trying to source a used Burnout kit...... only cause I'm cheap..... Since the rear of the kit is only an add-on to the sides of the rear bumper, I wanted to get some sort of diffuser.

Here is a link to a universal diffuser I was thinking of getting.

http://www.rhdjapan.com/jdm-low/EURO...r-Type-3-53287

If I go through with this, I plan on taking off the OE black plastic the rear bumper has, and shaving the clip holes, then using said diffuser. Using the diffuser will also allow me to make a custom exhaust... that I still haven't figured out yet.

But what do you guys think? Good idea, bad idea.... has it already been done?

But, I'm not gonna buy the diffuser till I find a burnout kit, just in case I find another kit that I want that has a full rear.

Also, I originally wanted to get a CF diffuser, but the price tripled on me, so this one will do.

go for it and let us know what your findings are, sounds like a good idea to me...
Also you might be able to get away with a few more rear trim pieces most of then take up the same space but are just designed with a little bit different chamfers, ie the ings, oem mazda, and others,,, GL

Good find, I'm interested. That size converts to about 30" X 30"

30x30 and the end that shows is about 16"

I just have to look under the car to see how I would mount it... the only thing that sucks, is I now live in San Diego, but my car is in San Antonio....

Rotr- The rear add-ons I'm not too worried about, as long as it levels out the rest of the body kit.

Here is another diffuser I found, it's nice and blingy since it's CF. I just don't know if I can justify the price.

that would make the rear look pretty aggressive. the first one looks cleaner for the less modified look. the varis one goes with a highly modified look.

There is one car that has a universal diffuser ziptied/cut to fit beneath the oe "diffuser"

I contemplated the varis large diffuser + vortex gens but thinking about exhaust heat kind of talked me out of it. Still might be interested though, do what I never went through with!

check out the auto-craft demo rx-8 it has a similar diffuser from a rx-7. not very well finished but I think the idea has potential.

it doesn't look wide enough to fit over the OEM. its like there's a giant hole.

That's one of things I'm worried about. I'm worried that the diffuser I get will not be wide enough....

I'm thinking, if that's the case, then I will probably go with a quad-tip exhaust... or maybe even a double-triple

i still think it would look unfinished. by the time you modify it and get that exhaust you might as well have got another bumper.

Couple reasons I want to do this... one, it'll be different from the norm. Two, it'll let me do the custom exhaust I want to do... Call me a ricer or whatever, but I really like the dual-canister exhaust look. You can't really do that with off the shelf body-kits. But we'll see what happens.

Not so much work involved though. Just gotta remove the OE plastics, shave the clips (whcih I can do myself), and mount the diffuser. As far as the expense of the exhaust.. either way, I'd be spending money on an exhaust. Whether it's a custom exhaust or a pre-built, I'm gonna have to pay for it. I can buy a used exhaust for 4-500 dollars... if I can find one... or I can build a custom exhaust for cheaper.

Burnout rears: $150
Burnot sides: $300
Burnout CF front lip: $369
paint is $XXX right now (but labor is free, since my friend will be doing that)
RHDJapan Diffuser: $290
Tubing for the exhaust: $100
Mufflers: Probably run another $100 each (guestimating on this one, still gotta do some research)
Exhaust Flange: $119 (from SRMotorsports unless I can find some other ones)
Resonator: about $75 (labor is free again, friends are great)

So far if it all goes like I'm thinking it's at $1603 + tax + shipping + paint + misc hardware. Keep in mind that all the plus's are things I have to pay for whether I do the custom rear and exhaust or go with off-the-shelf products.

So maybe $2100 give or take a hundo for a painted and installed lip kit and exhaust.

^^ jesus christ thats a lot of money lol. Id rather put that money on my Turbo savings account. What do you mean dual canisters? You mean like 2 exhaust muffler cans on 1 side each? Or 1 canister on each side?

Well, just the kit with a FRP lip and not CF is $700, with the CF lip it's $819. So just the kit by itself is half of what I stated earlier. A full authentic kit would cost 2-3 times more, and a new bolt-on exhaust is going to run me $600+. You do the math.

I was planning on going turbo, but not anymore. I just wanna change up the car a little, then leave it alone.
But I meant one canister on each side for the exhaust. You know what though... all the effort of just making this thread might just be a waste. As Nuke pointed out, I'm having doubts about the gap between the diffuser and bumper where the exhaust come out. Unless I get some fat muffles, there is going to be a lot of empty room.
I need someone to throw together a photoshop for me.

dont losse confidence just because no one else has done it...
the best thing to do is come up with an overall plan for your car, figure out what you want to do and how much it will cost, plan out how long it will take you and set aside an annual budget for things, you appreciate the small things when you do them in stages, rarely do people dump thousands of dollars into thier car at one time. Ive been building up my car over fours years now and each thing Ido has time to be appreciated before i do the next....

Thanks bro,
But I have the money, and I have it planned out... as far as what I want and how to approach it.... But one of my biggest speedbumps is me.. I have the worst buyers remorse that you've ever seen. If I need a new pen, I'll debate at the store whether or not I really do need the pen or not.
That, and I just need to look for some nice looking mufflers. The RHDJapan diffuser is only 16 inches wide, so I'm gonna need something to take up all the empty space. I'm now thinking about a dual-tipped setup.

This one really is nice with a pretty descent fitment,,, however the slight flare that extends to the rear of the wheel well wont match the Burnout unless you put a splitter underneath the sideskirts... but it will match the FEED sideskirts...
