Quoted from Tirerack who is a PIAA distributor :
"PIAA Super Cobalt H.I.D. bulbs are designed to provide a clean, clear, crisp light. The bulb has the highest Kelvin scale rating in the market today allowing drivers to upgrade their factory H.I.D. bulbs from normal H.I.D. (3800 Kelvin) to 6600 Kelvin. Super Cobalt H.I.D. bulbs are street-legal in Canada and all 50 U.S. states and available in D2R and D2S sizes."
I guess i dont like the OEM 4100k color and its all about the JDM craze... maybe thats not your thing

With projector headlights, the color of the bulbs will not bother other drivers. There is some truth to it being harmful to the driver. The theory is that the blue lights causes fatuge. Once again, 6600K isn't that blue.
Its perfectly white with a hue or purple... looks AMAZING

Ok, im not sure how that's DOT approved but you got the proof.
I was looking into HID conversions a few months ago, actually went through with it and im very satisfied. I got OEM Audi projectors, ballasts, and bulbs. I've come to prefer the 4100k and mod the shield for the colored cutoff, like you see with the maxima.

For those of you who don't know what the mod is, let me explain. On some projectors you can change the color of the cutoff line by moving the beam sheild out just a little. Most people use a washer, hence the name "washer mod." The change can make some cutoff lines worse while making some crazy. It just depends on the projector. I have taken our lights apart, so I know that it is not easy to get to the projector. I could be wrong, but I don't think this mod works very well on projectors with ripples. Ripples are in the lens itself and are on most high end cars because it reduces the glare seen by other drivers. Honda projectors do not have ripples, which is why the S2000, TL, TSX...etc have very nice cutoff lines. Since, I have an extra projector here, i'll try the mod and let you all know how well it works.

Rotary Rasp, did you ever try that washer mod? Did it work? I'm trying to get a blue look to my lights, but if there's a way to do it like Audi or BMW without losing light output, then I'm very interested.
