veilside body kit set up
Has anybody put their own kit on or at least watch it get done....We are currently installing the d1 gt and I really cant beleive that the only way to get the back bumper on is to remove the main inside bumper. It's like a 2 foot long 4x4 piece of steel that would stop a car from ending up in your back seet. On the plus side it did weight about 25LBS. This was the kit I bought from a member who told me it was fitted for the car. Now I know why he wanted to sell it..There is major mods to be done. We have finished the rear and side skirts"which were very easy" and now today we are fitting the front....Note to self get dust masks when grinding fiberglass.

I was told it is the original. It has veilside on the inside of the rear bumber and the front and the side. If its not it's one hell of a custom job....I just should of went with poly urethane. we are still trying to fit the front end on. Lots of grinding to fit it around the head lights. I must say it looks so sweet just a lot of work. Will pay off in the end.

Yes it was white and on the inside of the bumper it had veilside JPN
USA
on it. Don't get me wrong the kit looks great from far but my paint guy said it is going to take him alot of work to make it look like it should..60$ an hour. My opinion is get poly urethane and don't waste your $$$$ on fiberglass. I got this kit for a pretty good price but now I am paying for what i thought I was going to save. Oh well that is the problem from buying stuff over the net ..you take your chances. It should be done and on my car by Thursday Friday. I'll post some pics.
Oh ya also had to move the fog lights and mod them to mount more in the middle of the car now. Looks pretty mean.

Dream on!!!!!!!!!
I have the D1 GT skirts - direct from Veilside's official UK distributer, the first set went back as they would have needed a few hundred pounds of filler to sort the major gaps out at the front fender and rear wheel arches.
The second set needed an afternoon of prep work before they would fit, one side wasn't even cut right, needed a few inches taken off - was shorter than the car length!!!
Also, they don't supply anything other than 4 screws to attach. Now if you want them to flap about in the wind then fine, but I got my guy to make up 4 brackets for each side to attach the underside of the skirt to the underside of the car. Otherwise the only attachments would have been glue along the door sills, and the screws into the wheel arches.
I questioned the supplier as to the authenticity and they assured me they were genuine and the first set (along with pics of the awful fitment on my car) were sent back to Veilside.
As for other stuff,
1. Yes they were white FRP
2. They had black veilside stickers attched to the front inside of the skirts
3. They have the veilside logo embossed in the rear outside of the skirts
All I can say is 'GOOD LUCK' as they are in no way shape or form an 'easy fit'
Compared to INGs which still needed some prep around the clear corners, it went on first time - would recommened INGs over Veilside any day!

fitment doesn't look that great especially where the hood meets the kit. The rear seems a bit off too, maybe it's the pictures. I love the kit though, looks real nice in real life really wild. The doors are a bit too much though.

Actually the front hood lines up very good. but your right about the back. one side has more of a gap then the other but hardly noticeable. I might try and fix it over the winter while my car is parked.

I know, bump on a fairly old thread, but I really want to know how you mounted the fog lights, I'm about to get a Veilside D1-GT front bumper and I really don't want to lose my fog lights. The way you had them mounted looks really cool

Hey Tim yes your right veru old...Actually very easy to mount the fog lights. If I remember correctly they will mount perfectly with a small cut of the fog light holder. The black shroud in other words. I think once you have the fog lights off you will understand what I mean. Then just bolt them in to the frame. It took about 30 minutes...IMO I would not get the fiberglass kit it was very bad to fit and took alot of work....Even though it looks awesome from far the gaps were pretty bad when you took a good look at the car...But good luck either way.
