Veilside D1 GT - Titanium - doesn't fit
Anyone out there with the Veilside D1 GT side skirts - if you can take photos of your rear door section, where it joins the door sill - hope you dont have gaps like mine - sending them back - and trying to get the spraying costs back from them!

Thanks guys, the skirts are being picked up courier tomorrow and the UK Veilside distributer are going to send replacements when they get stock in at the end of the month. They also agreed to refund the spraying costs on these ones - so am happier today!
Will check and see if the new ones fit before spraying and may need some help on how to make them fit nearer the time.
Bummer, as the car did look mean when they were on it - lets just hope the INGs front bumper fits when it arrives!

So where are the pics of your car so we can slag you off?
Would you rather I put some rediculous rice boy wing on the back? I wanted something that finished off the rear and didn't scream rice at you.
As for the rims, you are the first person to EVER comment that they look cheap - they weren't I can assure you, neither was the spoiler - we spent a long time looking at thousands of rims and for a tit grey, they were the most inkeeping with the car.
Anyway, you don't like, fair enough, a post of ' don;t like your spolier or rims' would have have been fair comment, but to actively provoke an argument is childish. I feel for you m8, live and let live. In future constructive comments are welcomed, otherwise keep away.

2 questions for those in the know since this is all new to me
1. To remould, would an old iron gently heating the bits that need reshaping and mould to fit work?
2. Will normal bodywork filler stick to the fibreglass ok to fill up any gaps - like where its been cut wrongly in the pictures above.
At least when I get the replacements I can work on them and get them perfect B4 sending to bodyshop to get sprayed!

Ya know, by design my Mazdaspeed side skirts don't fit "perfectly" either. They are so close that no one but me would really notice the gap, and it doesn't really bother me - but I've been wondering if I could have the upper edge blended into the body so there is NO seam at all. I'm sure it could be filled with Bondo (or whatever it's called today) but am not sure that with the long length and the fact that it's between the front and rear wheels, I worry that chasis flex would lead to the Bondo cracking.
Do we have any bodywork experts on here, or anyone who knows about this stuff who could reply to these concerns?

#1 rule in bodywork, use the least amount of body filler as possible. BONDO is really the greatest filler. In order to have "seamless" sideskirts there may have to be some slight altering to the sideskirt itself for proper fitment. Followed by a super high strength automotive body "glue" (i forget what it's called but its really really tacky and turns hard as a rock when dry; fixed a chic's high heel once)and a screw here and there just like any other sideskirt. After the sideskirt is fitted and "stuck" on a minimal amount of bodyfiller (something like duraglass) first to make smooth lines and strengthen the sideskirt. Finished off with some finishing puddy you have yourself a beautifully molded sideskirt that looks like its part of the car granted that fact your body guy can do this type of work.

As for cracking bondo, thats why you use duraglass or something equally strong, won't break unless you smack it off something real good. took a log to break my friend's molded rear on his del sol.

fiberglass is a thermoset resin which means once it cures it does not go back to it's original state, which mean a hairdryer will def. not work. (thermoplastic; polyurethane can do that kind of stuff) whywhenyour urethane kit comes in a box all folded up and they tell you to set it out in the sun. Im a polymer and plastics engineering major

i think the car looks great, my kit will be here soon, and i think i can live with the small gaps, if i cant, ill have them fixed by my body man.
the spoiler i think looks good, the rims arent my style but they dont look bad at all.

:D There you go, slagging the optional appearance package. Yer car ain't stock, you paid extra for tupperware too! (tupperware = useless plastic tacked on the the lower parts of a car)

I think the all cars look better with a front skirt / air dam, however the only reason I didn't go for just the stock mazda parts are that i don't like the very visble join line between the front bumper and stock air dam. Personal opinion, and all that, and hopefully niceley put :D
Same goes for the side skirts, if they had done something like this, then i'd have got them no questions asked :

MikeB, If the molding has been done correctly it shouldn't crack. My friend had his doors shaved by someone else until he go into body work. A month later they cracked. He had them redone again and yet they still cracked; frustrated he finally did them himself and now 2 yrs. down the road they are still in perfect seamless condition. The problem is people use way too much filler and not enough metal when molding body pieces.
