Veilside knock off's
Just wondering if anyone has actually bought and installed any of the veilside knock off kits. I bought the authentic hood and the front bumper a few days ago. But with a few posts lately about the poor quality of the replicas I wasn't sure if anyone actually bought them and if so were they in anyway happy with their decision to go that route.

why would you want a knock off?.....do you eat no frills food and wear fake canal street type of clothes?......are you driving a civic with mazda emblems?.....same thought here....buy fake pay in the end....buy real pay upfront but have better quality.....simple

Im not going to buy fake. I just bought a hood and front bumper from Brian at veilside last week and will be buying the rest in a few weeks probably. Just trying to decide between that or the MS sides and rear. I just saw so much stuff about the knock offs being bad I wasn't sure if anyone was actually ever pleased with them.

There was no true justification for my purchase. i didnt wanna spend the $ to buy the real ones, not that i didnt have the money, just unsure if i was going to like them. so i bought i feilside set from ebay for like $175, and i sure got what i paid for - JUNK. I test fitted one side, it looked horrible, i immediatley through them in storage space @ my job. Chrism, my dad buys the no frills Coca Cola Sometimes from Walmart. does this mean hes JDM? Cuz you cant tell it aint Tropicana!
So whoever wants them - ill pass them over- give me gas money or just pay for shipping. and there yours. with a little 'work' you can get these to fit

and just from the pics posted (far away no less) i can spot flaws.....take some close ups of where the front and rear corners (where bumper meets fender)....and i would bet there are gaps.......also under the trunk......not to mention where the hood meets the front bumper....lets alos see the rear corner of where the side skirt meets the rocker and near the front wheel....who ever did your paint was off a few shades too.....

i just bought an authentic veilside version 1 complete lipkit. i bought it for 2 reasons 1 i like the look and 2 the price was way too good to pass up. i have an autobahn replica (shine, i still have it but its sitting in my house) and the fitment was good so im not gonna dog on replicas because my only experience with them is good but i am here to say the quality of the veilside is truely amazing. better than i ever expected. it is thick, heavy and looks to be extremely durable. its got to be close to twice the thickness of the stock urethane parts on the car and i like how the veilside logo is molded into every single part. it does have some heat damage around the exhaust ports but i have read that is normal and it is white water pearl so unfortunately i gotta fit up, take it off then paint it. but you cant buy the rear lip new for what i paid for the whole kit. will post new pics when its all done.

chrism is just mad because he paid for the original and yours fits better than his does.
:P
fitment does look pretty good i have to say. im not a fan of the kit at all, and even less a fan of ripping off companies/artists work... but yours is a good example of a good fitting replica.
i cant say i spot too many flaws. maybe where the drivers side taillight is.. where the bumper and rear quarter panel meet. its starts to get wider where the taillight is.. but everything is pretty minor. i'd say its a really good copy and even some JDM kits dont fit that well.
get plastic grills or paint yours black.

I have a Veilside Ver1 kit. I can't remember where I got it from. But when I see pictures of VS replicas, they were Green. Mine wasn't. There were no VS stamps because Ver1 kits did not have the stamps on it until the D1GT. My kit came black with the Veilside logo molding on it. I don't know if the VS replicas have the same molding on it, does it? So, I'm guessing I have the authentic Ver1 kit.

my ver1 has veilside moled into all the pieces and the urethane is black. just got done putting the first few coats on it. tomorrow will be time for wetsanding and clear. i spent almost as much on the dupont chroma and clear as i did for the whole kit. im thinking it should look pretty sick when its all on though. i will post some pics after the paint sets

new pics
got the veilside painted and put on. i had a hell of a time getting the sides to line up right untill i got enough common sense to put the factory rockgaurds(the rubber strips on the bottom) back on. its not perfect, but 1 hell of a $700(total for kit, shipping and paint) facelift. i got enough paint left over to paint my autobahn(shine) bumper so maybe we will see what a shine/veilside mix will look like come spring.
LOVE THINE VEILSIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
