These are just some pics I pulled off the RX7club.com forum. Personally I like the RE Amemiya hood but the MazdaSpeed is a close second. Leave your feed back which one would look better ont the 8 and which one would YOU buy?

I've been thinking about this for a while. I'm wondering if someone couldn't turn the "rotary" "dent" on the hood upside down. In other words, have it bump out instead of in and let air flow out of the back (but that might let too much water under the hood?). Or, if it were a scoop, let air come in the front.

Attached is a crappy mock-up I did (idea #1 is the top, idea # 2 is the bottom).

I think a cross between the Scoot and RX-Evolve's hood would look sweet. That way you could keep the rotor shaped inset and have it flanked by louvers on either side. The scoop in the front may look OK too.

I second Speed Racer's choice. I wonder why no one has produced that hood.

I like the origionality of this design, kudos to you. The reverse vent would better suit our needs i think. I'm still leaning towards the RE Amemiya as the hood to go with but I need to be sure because this will be a hood available to the public when it is finished.

sans the washer nozzles holes right ?
I'm a fan of scoops. I think the 8 would look sick with a moderate one

I agree with the one Arcane posted. I'm partial to a hood that incorporates the rotary symbol, something not too drastic from the stock hood.

Me... screw the rotary symbol. I think Mazda went overboard with those as it is...

I agree with your picks Huff. My fav is the Mazdaspeed. The RE Amemiya isn't bad. SpeedRacer's choice would look pretty stock on the car...

#1 - Speed Racers.
#2 - Veilside RX-8
#3 - ings+ or Mazdaspeed, toss up.

I do like the styling on the stock hood, obviously. I like Speed Racer's pic the best because there's a lot more aggressive venting than on the Veilside, which really only looks like they overly-accentuated the styling until you see the vents from behind.

I like the scoop on the scott hood. It could be used to blow cool air on the airfilter.

I think the re hood with the scoop on the scott hood

I agree, I can't wait to get rid of that rotary symbol either. So far it looks like the RE Amemiya and MazdaSpeed are the ones people are reacting to most.

I would purchase either the RE Amemiya, or the Scoot hood. Probably the Scoot over RE, but I'd still purchase the RE if it was the only one of the two available.

Let me know when you're going to make it available, I'll be one of the first in line.

I've been driving myself crazy awaiting the release of a good looking vented hood!!!

I'm thrilled as hell to see this moving along.

Do you have an ETA as to when you're planning production, Vivid?

First I need to get responces from the forum members to see which one is worth selling and producing. Then I give them my hood and they start prototyping. Once that is done the production begins. I'm going to say about 2 months to produce the hoods because they will make a production run of about 20 pieces for the firt run.
