Vertical Doors... Pics
I recently got Sponsored through this website the install only took a couple of weeks due to fabricating the universal kit. The kit works great, the only down side is the verticaldoors dont go up as far as other kits. You do get used to getting in and out.

the 1st pic in the second post looks like it goes up a pretty good amount, not that much lower than others(if that)
let us know how it holds up in a few months because universal kits usually need re adjusting every couple months to keep em straight

Sorry about the pics, I fixed the first ones. The kit is a universal kit from www.verticaldoors.com
The back doors do open just fine, and entry into the back really hasn't changed.

Is it just me or does it seem like these kits are insanely overpriced? I mean it is only a pair of brackets, shocks, and mounting hardware. I can understand a high price but 1,600 seems insane.
How much profit you think they are really turning.

get back to us in 2 months when your back hurts from snaking your way in and out of the drivers seat with the very limited space you have created with your vertical doors.
I'll never understand this mod. The RX8 is not a Lamborghini. The frame is not meant to allow proper space for vertical doors. Sponsor or no sponsor, the money is definitely better spent on ANYTHING else other than this.

$1600 is more than I would want to spend, but I still find a high 'cool-factor' in the vertical doors. kcmo, would you be willing to post another couple of pics showing the car with doors maximum-open straight-on from the side (your other side-shots are at an angle which makes the opening look larger from the rear and smaller from the front).
How about a couple of pics of someone getting in and out for scale? Is it really as tricky as Mugatu says or no harder than stock doors?
With the car being low to the ground I find I need to really shove the door way out then swivel 90-degrees in the seat and heave up out of the car. I'm a fairly athletic (triathlon last summer) 5'11" and 145lbs so it shouldn't be this hard, but I always feel like I have to work to keep my balance - perhaps I won't think about it every time when I've owned the car for more than 13 days. ;-)

^I do what you do too. Maybe it's from all those years of riding in minivans and SUVs that have resulted in me losing all lower body strength to pull myself out of the car in a sensible fasion.^

O looks nice. Im still looking into getting vertical doors on my 8. Are u having any sealage (if thats a word) problems? Cause I heard thats a huge prob with vert doors...kinda why im hesitant to get them. I found a company where the doors open out normal first and THEN up, so it eliminates sealage stuff...but I dunno.
And I agree, I think the kits are WAY overpriced...considering that to have them installed they have to do a lil custom work on the kits...which makes for high instalation prices......no fun.

Vertical Doors Inc. is very reputable company. We installed their kit on our project '95 RX-7 show vehicle. The kit hold up the door very well.
This universal kit for the RX-8 look promising...maybe next on the list for our project RX-8

Yes, I am sponsored through vertical doors inc.
The kit is just like all the other ones, they open out first normally then up. So sealing isn't a problem.
Getting in and out is a little more difficult than I expected, due to the doors not going all the way up or say around 90 degrees.
I don't have any problems opening or closing the door with one hand. I am about 6'2" 200lbs, pretty fit, and not old enough to get back problems. Plus I don't drive this car too much. I have had it since May and only have 5,000 miles on it.
I think I covered all the questions. I will try to take some more pics today or tomorow.
