BWAHAHAHAHA
What Do They Do?
# Reduce Overall Aerodynamic Drag
# Reduce Rear-end Air Flow Separation
# Reduce Turbulent Air Flow
# Allows For Faster Clean Air at Rear End
What Does This Mean?
# Increased Gas Mileage
# Increased Performance
# Increased Down Force
# Increased Top Speed
# Increased Velocity

The ? would be do they do anything at the speeds we can attain, wiith the aerodynamics we already have. Sure they work on planes and perhaps even brick-like big rigs and trailers, but.... inquiring minds would like to know... nice they were made expressly for the RX-8 though.

This is a theoretical analysis of VG's on sedans....
http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com/cor...004/16E_03.pdf
From their conclusions:
"(2) Application of the VGs of the optimum shape determined through the abovementioned analyses to the Mitsubishi LANCER EVOLUTION showed a 0.006 reduction in both the drag coefficient and lift coefficient."
0.006 is not a very large decrease in drag. As a general rule of thumb, a 0.01 change in the drag coefficient of a common domestic vehicle equates to a 0.1 to 0.2 MPG change in fuel efficiency. Of course, it depends on more variables than just the forward drag coefficient, but that'll get you in the ballpark. In other words, we're not talking about a very noticeable increase in fuel efficiency with the addition of VG's, even on the fuel-hungry RX-8. And... they look horrible.

Maybe they should put a disclaimer?
What Do They Do?
# Reduce Overall Aerodynamic Drag*
# Reduce Rear-end Air Flow Separation*
# Reduce Turbulent Air Flow*
# Allows For Faster Clean Air at Rear End*
*IF YOURE GOING OVER 300
