Angry What is the safest paint stripper for a tailight

long story short tinted a friends tail light and paint dried to fast and cracked so what is a good paint stripper that won't harm the plastic. Just want to bring it back down to the plastic and retry again. any suggestions sanding would be my last resort.

Going to depend on what dissolves the paint....

Is it enamel, water..or lacquer based..that will depend on the solvent to try.

You could try a bit of the solvent on a hidden part of the light and see if it dissolves the paint and the light ..or just the paint

I seem to remember that lacquer thinner does dissolve the light...

i once used alcohol to try to clean the plastic and it was too strong, ended up making giant cracks everywhere and i had to replace both lights, good thing they were relatively cheap from members on this forum

Well if Jack Daniels ruins it the rubbing alcohol won't work.

Like EASY said.

Sand paper or tripple lot steel wool.

Use a very fine wet/dry sand paper with lots of water. Then polish it smooth with a plastic polish. Use a paint prep to remove any silicate and windex to remove any organics. Repaint and hope for the best..good luck!
