Winning Blue: Stock vs. Mazdaspeed

Ironically, had a client come by the office with a stock exterior 8. Thought it would be a great chance to take side by side shots of both cars so the difference is noticable.

Whadda ya guys think?

I like the Mazdaspeed, personally. I think it makes the 8 look more aggressive and more like it's "prowling", which I think is cool

+1 The MS front is right near the top of my long list of "to-do" for my 8.

is the mazdaspeed one sitting lower, or is that just the fatigue in mine eyes?

Its lowered and it has 19 or 20 inch rims on it.

Generally I like the MS kit over stock, but those rims are pretty gross and the lack of spoiler throws the car out of visual perspective.

Edit: Definetly needs Clear Corners ASAP also

sup rish I came by your shop a few months back to purchase some rims for my brother's evo mr. Glad to see you finally bought a rx8. How much are those calipers? Dam your ride is low you got them zeals on? if my ride was sitting that low I would be plowing gravel.

Funny,
I am that customer! I went to Rish's shop to buy an MR2 as my next project car and I ended up talking about the RX8 only...

BTW,
Yes my car does look stock... but... it's got the Borla exhaust, RB oil cooler screens, MS sways, MS strut bar, MS flywheel and Wilwood bigger brakes (4 piston caliper) slotted front and rear and HKS Intake...

Soon I will be installing the CZ with Hymee sCANalyser to see if I can get more power out of it.

His car sounded beauuuuutiful.. cuase of the exhaust. However I am not too kin of the Typhoon K&N intake he had on.

I actually liked how Ris's car handled. The brakes indeed were awesome but I still need to try them myself.

The BEST thing was the suspension!!! What difference between mine (stock) and his (Zeal).

That is in my list of "nice to have" for my car...

After suspension and performance is done in my car.. I will look into the "?looks department"

Carlos

Bet it doesn't work very well in 8" of snow, but I like the look for someone else's car.

My favorite look is just adding the Mazdaspeed front end w/o the rest of the kit. For a couple of reasons; 1) it gives almost the same overall look (as someone mentioned, there isn't much of a diff in the back and in my opinion the side skirts don't add that much) and 2) it saves alot of money over buying the whole kit. Don't get me wrong Rishie, i love the look of your car. My point is that the front end is by far the biggest change that the Mazdaspeed kit has to offer. AS an example; SR motorsports show car has exactly what i am talking about (srmotorsports.com). My plan is to add just the front end to my 8 and call it a day.

Without the side skirts the car would look unbalanced IMHO. Especially from the side!

I would like to see a side by side of the standard appearance package or stock lowered next to the same ms car. I love the lowered look it has.... think it looks much more aggressive. I just wonder if the aggressive look comes more from the lowered body or the ms kit or maybe a little of both.

Pololo, go get you that suspension that will lower your car then go back and lets get some more side by side shots.

wow, there are some folks on here who can't see the difference in the rear ?!? those cars are night and day, the mspeed is slammed, looks wider, etc etc the other car looks 4x4 and very narrow to me, maybe it's the blue? I'm digging the mspeed look for sure, and whoever said those wheels are gross is crazy, those wheels are sweet and compliment the car nicely

Wow... I have my winning blue... and I absolutely love the look of the Mazda speed... I'm not sure of getting it lowered though... too many potholes in California.

Question... in California, is it necessary to have the DMV plates on the front end?

Also... anyone seen this site?

yeah, i'll agree with you on the POTHOLES. lol! it's funny whenever i'm driving in long beach, people think i'm drunk or something because i try to dodge all of the potholes, when we get to a light they give me this look of "what the hell are you doing?" haha.

As for the DMV plates, yeah you have to have a plate, or you can get a ticket. but most of us in socal take the chance with a cleaner look without the plate
